The Show at Pebble Beach (Montery) California is all grass. The car show at the park across the lake from my home is on grass. OK L.G., I say lose the attitude, take a few photos to city counsel etc., realizing that they are not going to change the ordinace just for you, but may be willing to look the other way after they know the whole story and see that this is one good looking truck that actually looks better on the bright green summer lawn...Mike, LIGHTNING PERFORMANCE

CA, You park that ride anywhere that heart of yours desires. Just direct any questions towards me! LOL! J/K! I'm too far away to help
You're more than welcome to park that beast in my front yard, it would improve the way things look around here.

Girlfriend, I totally understand your circumstances. Just hang in there and do what it takes to keep the peace for now. You're on your way out of there anyway, bite your tongue and take it easy. In my opinion, that gorgeous beast of yours is a lawn ornament.

Love ya, Girl!

I have no further comment for Lighthead. Most of the guys here know me. It may be redneck to park in my front yard but is it less redneck to have to drive around with a garbage bag on my busted out window? Regardless, I was willing to have a discussion but I was still a little pissed. But the condescension when he basically told me to go to hell just set me off. We DO have the make my day law...part of the reason I park on the lawn, I DO have a gun, and I remember leaving the house that night before I got to my folks place, looking right at it and thinking, I won't need my gun...In hindsight, I am very very glad I left it there. But I would have loved to pistol whip that little sob. Anyway, I am tired and can't focus. I made a few calls to a couple of people I know with State of CO so they can point me in the right direction (I'm a travel agent for the National Conference for State Legislature and the CO state senate and House. The Broncos too, but I doubt they can help}
We'll see what that leads to

So,
Your truck is parked in the yard. 3:00 am and you hear someone breaking into it. What are you going to do ? Confront them and put your life at risk for a piece of metal that is insured anyway ?
If your worried about broken windows, just take all your valuables out of it when you park it..... and leave the truck unlocked. That way at least you will not have a broken window in the morning. If someone was dead set on stealing it, locking it isn't going to slow them down all that much anyhow.
I always leave my truck unlocked. That is just from past experiences on other vehicles I have owned being broken into by some crackhead looking for something to steal. Nothing in there to steal, but had broken window cause I locked it.
I park my truck outside where I live now. I have had it rummaged through on several occasions. Since it was not locked, I had no broken window. Nothing left in it to steal, so nothing stolen.
Please don't say you have an aftermarket stereo in it that your worried about, because I'm sure you would have been smart enough to spend money on a security system first.

Mr Lightfoot,
I guess all automobile manufactures are wasting their money and ours by installing door locks? From what you are saying, we should all just park wherever and leave the doors unlocked. Let me ask you this, Do you leave the doors to your home unlocked while you're away at work? In your theory, you would be better off or am I wrong somehow in your twisted ways of thinking?

ChristyAnn's truck is as important to her as my goodies are to me, it's our thing, what we do and the pride we have in having such toys means the world to us. By your way of thinking, we should all drive Chevettes and not be concerned about the money we've spent to have something WELL ABOVE AVERAGE because someone is going to come along and take it if they want it. Fine, there are people that steal and lie (God knows, I've found my share of them), but does that mean we have to surrender to them?

I'll continue to park in a safe place and lock my doors on the POS S-10 I drive to work. My mustang will remain behind locked doors, or should I leave them unlocked so I don't have a busted out garage door?

Think about it, Mr cynical, if you think everyone else is wrong and you're the only one that is correct, you have another thought coming.

CA, park in your damn yard and put a potted plant in the bed. It will be your idea of a flowerbed. I'd be proud to have you as my neighbor no matter what part of town I live in.

CA,

You might want to check city ordanances regarding altering your driveway, before doing it. I'm sure there is some permits you'd need.

Regarding lightningfoot, I am sorry for him. We all know how people in Oregon think, And I am surprised a volvo is not more a car of his choice. LF, Chew on this, had we replaced the beurocrat CA talked to with another police officer to patrol her neighborhood, this wouldn't be a problem.

Big government is a complete joke. That's what your seeing CA, and I could go on and on about this subject. I agree, that moving would be the best course of action, but if that's impossible, I'd wait up all night for the SOB's to come again and try. HAng a dead crow in a tree and you'll rid yourself of your bird problem. It's the same way with Ghetto trash scum...

Get out the damn soapbox!!!!

CA-

I know you don't want to hear this now, but I don't feel right in not saying it.... Kinda like holding back the truth...

You mentioned that your neighborhood is getting trashy... Well, those things that make you think it is getting trashy are things that those people feel they have the right to do... Just like you feel you have the right to park your truck on the lawn...

I understand that you don't intend on doing it in the spring/summer, but once one person starts something, others will surely follow. Who's to say THEY won't continue in the spring and summer?

I guess the reason I feel this way is because our neighbor bought a second vehicle about two years ago... He started parking on the lawn. It didn't bother me until the neighbors across the street started parking TWO cars in their lawn. Next thing I know, the guys down the street are doing the same thing...

My parents came to visit, and thought I lived in a bad neighborhood! So others actions were impacting what my family and friends thought of me!

I know its not good to be overly concerned about what others think, but you have to consider it somewhere. You drive an L because you like the looks, and you are proud when others compliment it I'm sure... You would also be defensive if someone insulted your L and likewise your taste... The same goes for others in your neighborhood.

Is there any other way to protect the truck?

I park mine on the side of the house with these guys in sight of any would be intruders:

They look sweet here, but trust me, they won't look so sweet attached to the nuts of a would be intruder... or Lightfootning eihter for that matter!

JUST KIDDING L'FOOT!!!!

Wanna borrow one to chain to your L? You just have to promise to chain him to something else when you drive fast!!!!

OK! OK! We can put away the soapbox now.... well one more thing....

Yeah I know there will be some pinhead on the board that will say... "I'd just shoot/kill the dog"... But I don't think the crook will honestly see that as an option. Even the crooks know that it's much easier to just go to the next car/house/neighborhood when confronted by a dog...

Fighting city hall isn't easy, but can be done. You should remember one thing while doing so, you can attract a lot more bees with honey than you can with bull****. Being confrontational rarely works with the government, unless you have $$$$$ to spend on attorneys fees.
