Question Who all has done the coolant crossover mod?

I'm just trying to gauge how many Lightning owners out there have done this mod. I understand what doing this mod will accomplish. I'm just trying to see if it would be worthwhile to do it...

The Cobras with the 4V heads have cooling issues, we don't.

i did it while my motor was out. it may not help much, but it won't hurt either.

I think I may do it just for the hell of it. I'm gonna have the lower intake out anyway doing a little clean-up port work on the runners. I think I'm gonna use braided stainless hose though.

I read on the topic a while back. IMO if you are running very high boost, its not a bad thing to do but if you're below 15psi, I don't see a reason to do it.

Its a different issue for the Cobras though.

I wonder if Ford has addressed this issue on the GT-500 motor????

Let me switch gears here a little....

If I was going to gut my A/C and heater from the truck, what would be the preferred thing to do? Should I just run a hose from one side to the other with no outlet in the center of the hose? Or would I just plug the hole on the passenger side of the intake manifold and call it a day?

The heater hose lines dumb back into the motor at the back of the water pump. You would either have to cap everything, or how I would do it is do the cooling mod and just go from those hoses to the back of the water pump(just no more heater core)

BTW; mine has the cooling mod done to it........

What he ^ said! Run the line from the tee to the back of the water pump.

SW,

Were you a part of the thread on 'another site' when JJ posted up that this mod is not beneficial for lightning owners?

Yup. I tend to agree with him. But I also agree with the people that say it can't hurt.

My engine builder (Al Pepito) told me on 2V engines it wasn't necessary. On 4V, it's a good thing to do. Just popped out my 2 rear freeze plugs and threaded barbs a couple of weeks ago. I figure it's cheap insurance.
