What's required to install the keypad on a 99? Additional parts or is the harness in the door? Thanks.

Can this be done to any 97-01 F-150 as long as it has factory power locks? Are the wires already in the door but just not used?

Thanks,
Steve

I can't speak for the '97, or '98 trucks, but the '99 and up F150 can be fitted with this mod as long as you have remote keyless entry.

If you look up under the dash on the left side between the steering col. and the e-brake, you will see a white module with two plugs in it. This is the RAP module that controls the remote entry and the keypad if equiped. The wires will have to be fed through the rubber boot between the door and the cab on the '99 as the plug did'nt show up until the '00 MY.

Just put it on my '01 f150, it was a snap as the plug is there already.

There are some very good step by step instructions on installing and wiring...use the search to find. A very worthy addition

LightningKid, Thanks. I found this after I made the post.

Looks pretty sweet. I had keyless on my Lincoln and I miss being able to get into the car anytime without keys.

White2000

There are two key pads that could have been ordered, one with a short wire and the other with a long wire. How do I know because I ordered the short wire first.

Question Keyless Entry Keypad Install.....HELP!

I have everything torn apart and have the new keypad and new door handle. I found the pre-wired plug-in for the keypad to plug into, but there is no way in heck that this thing will reach to where the door handle mounts. Am I missing something???

Question

My keypad came with a pretty long harness that reaches across the door and plugs into the existing plug that's located above the speaker. There's no need to move the existing wiring harness at all. Are you sure you have the correct keypad?

you might have gotten the wrong keypad..
there are 2 kinds that will work on our trucks. one for the f150 znd one for the expedition (i think)

one had longer wires than the other..
i had to pull the plug off the door to make mine reach.

plug harness in, then look up inside the door.. you'll see a metal piece (like a U shaped piece upside down) with several holes in it that line up with the push plugs on the new wiring harness. thats where the hard piece of plastic on the harness goes..
its a tight fit.
make sure you have the correct part # before you do anything else..

I too got the wrong one....they gave me the one for the expy. Oh Well, I ended up lenghtening the wiring harness and it works perfectly. What a great add-on, they definately should have come with these!!
