Post A/F Ratio

I dynoed the new engine for my 99L. It ran 13.2 to 13.6 and the guy claimed it was too high. I just blew the old engine from detonation and am not curious enough to try another. What is optimum air fuel? Ken

Cool

Ken,
From what i have been told from several tuners they like there air-fuel ratio around 11.6 to 11.8 when they calibrate there chips.Anything over 12.5 could be a big problem for you is what i have been told!Maybe Spiro or JL can help here.

Matt

Highroller is correct.

I had a early custom chip made and I remember the dyno king stating almost the same thing, except 'too rich'. I don't remember the exact figures but 11.? sure sounds correct.
All my dyno dude did was lean the A/F out and advance the timing until it pinged and backed off a bit. This netted me about 8% RWHP gain.

If you search this forum you'll find a program that you can load in your laptop, create a cable and plug it the L and check your own A/F and a few other neat things.

I also remember a trick that you can play with the odometer to show a lot of dash functions, I thought it showed a few other things also, maybe A/F?

So now you got 2 things you can search for if you're interested.

Looks like F1 going to start, goodnite.

Interactive Systems has a device called "Air Adjuster" to adjust the A/F ratio. Has anyone tried this?

Question

Does anyone remember that odometer post? Think it was before I had my truck and didn't get to try it.

Digital Odometer: http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/dtcodes.htm

A/F of ~13 is considered lean at WOT!

i'll say a little about the a/f thats something that tuners kinda keep under their hats so to speak because that has an important part in programing a chip for optimum performance! but man i don't want to see you blow your engine IMHO thats WAY to Lean....JL
