hitting the dyno in the morning :)

going to Modular Depot to have the truck dynoed in the morning at 9:30am. it has been a very long road up to this point. months to get everything purchased and here, installed, tuned, brand new fuel pump not working, driveabilty issues, etc lol. got the fingers crossed. love to see something in the 450/520 range on a good 93 octane tune. see sig for mods.

450/520 should be no problem with those mods. (dynojet)

I bet it pulls closer to 475/550.

well i just got back home. today went just like the rest of the whipple install. Ken made the first pull with the JDM tune since i had the JDM fuel rail kit with their tune to match. the pull was stopped 1/3 way into because my truck was way way lean. something in the 16.1 a/f ratio. Ken stated that the tune was so lean that something had to be wrong. He checked the fuel pressure and it was only seeing around 32psi at the start then it would shoot up to 40psi and then drop back down. Ken could not find where JDM had adjusted the tune like they said they do for their fuel rail kit. So Ken made a base tune for the truck just to see if it was the tunes i had that was causing the problems. The next pull was stopped 1/3 of the way into it. Same thing again with the fuel pressure. Ken told me that i needed to do some problem solving before we made any more changes. I have a lot of work ahead of me over the weekend. The first thing i am going to do is remove the JDM fuel rail kit and put the factory rail kit back on. Then i need to check the fuel pressure with the factory rails. Next step is to check the relays and then the last step is to remove and check the 255 pumps again. This was not what i was hoping for to say the least.

the good news is that i like Ken and the rest of the grew i have meet at Modular Depot. Ken was very nice and eager to help. As soon as i find the problem and fix it i will be going back to MD for the dyno tuning. plus the truck was already making around 320 rwhp and 460 ft-lbs before the pulls were stopped. I guess I should be very happy the truck did not blow the engine since the install. Ken only charged me 50 bucks for almost two hours of work so that was very cool.

The JDM rail kit shouldn't affect the fuel pressure, should it ?

I would start with the relays / fuel pumps - unless I am missing something, once the rails are full the pressure should be relatively close to what you would see with the stock rails.

Unless you installed some giant injectors and they are flowing too much (which your tuner would surely have spotted) I'm betting you have a fuel pump related issue.

Good luck !!

I would just jumper it out so it is always supplying 12VDC to the pumps.

If that clears it up, it will take a little investigation to determine where the breakdown is.

If not, I'd look at the pumps themselves.
