Question Securing Computer Module After Chip Installation

I just put in a CUX 2 Superchips R9. I taped the chip to the computer module. The plastic clip no longer fits to secure the module to the interior bracket. It does not seem to move around but I am concerned. Any ideas on how to secure the module?? Thanks in advance for the suggestions. By the way, I do not feel any significant power gain, but the WOT shift points and the crispness( read that neck snapping ) of the shifts is great! This is particularly true with respect to the second to third shift. Without the chip, there was a noticeable drop in RPM. With the chip this is eliminated.

The plastic clip does fit. i've done this 20 times. something is wrong, flip the clip over, check to see if the computer is in the bracket properly. you need that clip, otherwise tension can be put on the pins of the harness connection.

The best thing to do is remove the PCM cage and bend the lip flat. Otherwise it will cut the tape eventually and move the chip.

Don't get me wrong. Removing the cage is tough for us ham fisters.

I found that the clip can still be installed if I simply move it down, from its previous location, to right below the chip. No modification needed.

Just my .02.

Later,

Yes, bend the lip. It's a biotch getting the bracket out of there so I removed the computer and took pliers and bent the lip straight out, otherwise it will wedge itself between the chip and the computer and do weird stuff. And like he said, just move the clip down below the chip and it will snap into place.

Yep, bend the bracket and lower the plastic clip.

Thanks for the comments. Here is what I ended up doing. I loosened the lower bolt on the bracket. This allowed more space to get the lower part of the plastic clip under the bracket at a spot below the chip area. I then tightened the bolt. Note, the bracket rests on a spongy material to begin with, so when you tighten it back up it there will be more space at the bottom of the bracket than at the top. This is the bottom of the clip pressing the spongy material down.

Guys

These subjects have been covered in detail a couple times

Here is a pic from the "How To" I did last year. In it you can see the Computer module, the black clip and the Blue Superchip. I havent bent the lip and I havent had any trouble yet. The bent clip would be a dead give away to chip install.

I removed the bracket that holds the computer into the truck. There are two small bolts that hold it there. I believe that they are 6mm. I put the bracket on the bench grinder and eliminated the lip altogether. It won't interfere with the old or new style chips any more.
