I am curious as to your comment about the warranty covering a rental car. My service manager says that a loaner car is not covered under the standard Ford warranty. Why would he lie if Ford pays?

Ford provides the dealerships with an umbrella, if you will, that covers rental units. The dealership has it at their discretion how and when to use it for their customers.
IF you're denied a rental car, call FORD or SVT and get it resolved that way. Spending $30,000ish on a truck riddeled with problems and then being denied a rental while it's broken down isn't my idea of customer satisfaction...
CA, you had to throw a fit, but finally got what you wanted, right? Some service departments have respect for their specialty customers, some don't.
Squeaky things get oiled..

I work for a family owned SVT/Ford dealership that is VERY customer oriented. The loaner car is now part of the 2001 SVT owners' Premium Service plan. For those of you with pre-2001's, Ford's warranty does NOT offer a loaner - read the warranty book.
When our dealership has a customer that thoroughly demands a loaner no matter what, and the service manager bends the rules, it's the dealership that pays for your loaner - not Ford! The dealership is penalized for Ford's defect.
As a side note, if you've purchased a Ford Extended Service Plan than you do get a loaner during the entire factory warranty period and extended warranty period.

the 01 intercooler has been fixed, we will be able to get the 01 intercooler for our trucks in a few months. Hold out till then, I would say April-May. I'm am not sure how to find out though, that might be kinda tuff.
