Just curious...I have a student that is always talking about his older brothers "10 second Chevy Truck" I guess this is a 1500 extended cab truck with a blower, headers, exhaust, and a chip. Oh and possibly he has head work.

Sounds just like the App Dev manager who was boasting about his chipped 2000 Corvette. Looking at the Vette corp site it should run around 13.2 before the chip. But can he drive it as good as the PRO who set the time for Chevy ? My L will do 13.2 -13.4 off idle... Everytime... If we ever do race I can count on the pressure and his lack of experience to even us out, even if he does hit every shift...

There's a guy around here named Moby that has almost the same setup and is running high 13's, I think.

Now maybe this guy is confused and his brother is running 10's in the 1/8th.

The only way this guy (with the mods you listed) is running 10's in the 1/4 is with the highly vaulted but seldom run elevator shaft race.

 

I failed to mention the most vital part (Opps). He has a ZZ4 crate motor. I don't know how this slipped my mind. But still, even with the motor and all the mods, 10's? Come on..

BTW ZZ4 is good for only 355 HP @ 5250 RPM or about 270 RWHP and is for off road use only. I'm making about 370 RWHP so slap all thay stuff on the ZZ4 and you're right back in the L2 range (chiped and filtered).

Now there are 3 goodies to slap on for the ZZ4 for 420 HP, but you'll need to do the research

Anyhow, if you ever frequent the races out there, look out for a burgundy shortbed chevy. Mid 90's..he pulled off a 13.2 on street tires (but at PALMDALE!!) lol..i have beaten him a few times but my speed limiter is about to kick in at the finish line..just be careful. He is running a built 383 with a big dose of NOS He usually runs at the Fri/Sat illegals.

 

It looks like I am not the only one that was BSed to. Terrorizing the strip late last summer, I parked my truck at one of the spots. One guy came up to me and said his buddy's truck had a blown big block in it.

Non-chalantly I pulled up to where he was parked and asked if he wanted to run. He said he doesnen't street race. Only at the track. That drew a grin from me. I knew he was BSing me. I told him that I ran 13.6, and that I was gonna be there the very next day, just so he can show what that big block has to offer. Well, he didn't show up. And I told his buddy he must have a stock v6. I have since caught a few lights with him, and he wont go. I have also learned that if he lines up with a car/truck and has a whisper of a hint that he'll lose, then he wont race. But he does street race. To each his own I guess. But now I bet he hears that he's got a v6 chevy instead of a blown big block. I tell everyone that.

I wouldn't worry too much, Marcus. It is quite amazing how big the rumor gets.

 

Yes a Chevy truck can run a 10 second quarter--I have a video of one doing it one day I was running at my local track! It was a full strip drag truck: short bed, standard cab, completely gutted interior, no A/C, no power steering, no power brakes, tubbed chassis, huge slicks, extremely built 454 with a huge blower, open headers, wheelie bars, etc, etc, etc.

It's funny how so many people lay claim to what their vehicle can do without actually ever running it at the track.

 

10 second 0-60. I've seen a Fiat run a 10 second quarter. Wasn't a normal Fiat. I bought the Lightning for balance. It can be made real fast and still turn and stop. Bet that 10 second truck could pull .7 on the skidpad.

 

I've seen a beater Suburban run 10 second quarters. With a small block, & no blower or nitrous. The owner told me he has a nascar block with a 400 crank, he wouldn't say much else. Two dominators. Very gutted, but still a big boat, lifted the front wheels 2 feet high on launch! No BS. Lloyd

lgogether, Thanks for the heads up on the stats of this guy. I knew the 10's were strecthing the turth a bit. From what you're putting up...It sounds like even my stock 01 would beat him. I'm also thinking along the lines that his truck heavier than mine also.

Hey Dave. I'm not a full on teacher (only 19). But I'm a damn good teachers assistant at Lawrence Middle School. But since I'm big and scary looking, I do mostly security now. My parents are teachers, and I don't want to go that route when I get older. Not for me. Dave, I'll look out for the mentioned truck. I know there are a few other sleepers around here. I haven't run into them yet, but someday I will. Haven't gotten the ***** to take it to the street races yet (also b/c it's raining). Don't want the cops to bust me and my truck.

I'm thinking what CA said is true. 10 sec. in the 1/8th. He's full of it.

Tundra, it's sad how you'll always find someone who is willing to BS that much, and then not prove what they got.
