"Calling Trace" (or "Door Cracks Revisited)
i'm holding off on the stereo stuff right now. (its under my bed, gathering dust. beside my guage pods) i have a small issue with my intercooler, and may go ahead & get a new one.. truck that is.
is the crack on both doors? do the power windows actually cause it?

Hello all,
I know I am late in the game but the following article https://www.f150online.com/articles/cracks.html mentions that they will perform the TSB even if the crack did not appear yet as a prevention, is that true? My F150 (7700) build date is June 2000.
Thanks for any help you can provide,
SC

I had mine fixed @ Campbells. I bought it at Hunt Club but trying to deal with them was like pulling teeth. I brought the TSB with me and they still didn't want to fix what I thought they should.
The guy I spoke to at Campbells (can't remember his name) was awesome to deal with. I just mentioned what year my truck was and what was wrong and they booked me right away and took care of the door cracks, door seams, tailgate seam and roof gutters all in one shot.
There were a couple probs like the truck was filthy inside when I got it back and a scratch in my tint. He offered to get the door tinted as soon as I showed it to him, but you can't see it when the window is all the way up, and I figured it wouldn't match the other one so I just left it be. They also left an empty cardboard box and a lid off a can of seam-sealer in the bed; I didn't notice until I got home. Overall though, I was impressed with the work they did.
Let me know if you have any more q's.

Just had the door crack fixed on my 99 lightning last week. They put on a new skin, re-painted and put the fix in. I ended up paying 35% of the fix which was around 900.00 total. I love paying for fords mistakes. With the blocks put in the door doesnt flex nearly as much as it did before.
I took it in right under 36000 but I was 5 months past 3 years. after I got it back and washed it there was a 1 square foot dull spot and drips on the door, plus the door wasnt put back on right and dropped down when I opened it. it went back tuesday and they took care of the problems while I waited. Sunday a branch fell out of a tree and landed on the hood and scratched it and the right fender, so they buffed that out for me for free. phew... and the re-painted door looks awsome.
As I was thinking wow there is nothing wrong with my lightning, I went to open the rear sliding window and the latch popped off in my hand. DOE!!!
but I do love this truck.

How funny, I am going through this issue with my local dealer on my 2000 Lightning right now....havent had it 3 years but am outside my mileage on warranty. I do have the 6/100k ESP and Ford is still balking at paying for it. Its a little ridiculous to even have to fight this, when there is a TSB for the issue, and we aren't talking about dry weatherstripping or some piece of trim - its the frickin' sheet metal!!!
BTW - Ford customer service told me that there is a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty on the body for corrosion and peforation. I'd say my door is peforating itself quite nicely...
