$28,500 for 2000L????
Just saw a 2000L with 5600 miles on it. Just for kicks I drove it and checked with the dealer and they wanted to start negotiations at 28,500. While not a horrible price, I'm thinking this thing should roll out of the dealer at about 27k. The dealer has 3 2000Ls on the lot including this one and now 2 2001's as well. I'd think they would want to get the 00's off the lot... what do you guys think?
Thanks!
Thanks!
BlackLight - Can you help a newbie out and provide a little insight into why? What I'm looking at is about 6-7k more to get a 2001 (the area dealers won't sell below msrp and most likely they will have a slight markup) than a 2000. Are the technical issues that bad (intercooler problems and the like) with the 2000 or are the improvements on the 2001 really that great? Just curious.
Screwloose, which dealer has the 2001's in Cincy? I went to Kerry last night in Tri-County and they had a 2001 come in on Fri. morning and a guy was driving it away when I showed up. I was told be Kerry and Woody Sander that they would give me my X-Plan on a 2001 L, so I doubt that they will mark the sticker price up any. If you can't get 'em to go below MSRP try to get them to cover TTL. I got Bob Williams to do that on my Cobra a few years ago. I hope to get my Black L in a few months and can hardly wait!!!
Screwloose,
If I was you I would shop around before I would pay $27,000 for a used 2000 L. Check out Ebay, the classifieds on this web site, and on the NLOC website. Also, since you live in Ohio, give Mike Bass Ford a call in the Cleveland area. I bought my 2000 L there for about $3,500 under MSRP. I don't know if you can do that good, but yuou should at least do better than MSRP, and it would be worth the drive for a couple of thousand in savings. Or what I did, was got the SVT dealer phone numbers in my area for 1-800-fordsvt. Then I just started calling around. Tom

Thanks for the advice guys. The dealer I visited (for my fellow Ohio shoppers) was Kings Ford in the Kings Automall out on I71. They have two 01s (one Black and one Red) but I didn't pursue the discussions so I don't know how serious they were about over msrp pricing. After doing a few searches on the page it sounds like used 2000 with low mileage were being had for 25-26k so I'm not too crazy about 27k now.
