wtf?
Came home today and there was this priority mail package on my door step, with return address from FoMoCo. Too small for my new intercooler. Opened it and there was a box inside. Looked like a Kleenex box. How the hell did Ford even know that I've had a bad cold? Too heavy for Kleenex, though. Opened the box and found a little metal model of an f150 reg. cab 4x4, burgundy, along with some kind of promotional literature for the Ford Insider program. Double WTF. I am a born outsider, against my nature to join any insider program. And a 4x4? As a Lightning owner I take that as an insult. And in the hated colors of the Trojans? Oh well, I guess I can use it for target practice with my pellet gun. Anyone else get one of these gizmos? And more to the point, anyone know why?

I know a guy that got a leather jacket with an SVT logo on it. He doesn't know why he received it but he likes it.
But a model f150? Maybe someone at Ford has a bizarre sense of humor and decided to jerk your chain.
Hearing that you got it (with all the problems that your dealing with) made me laugh. Maybe next week they'll send you a discount coupon for coolant.
If I get one, I send it to you so you'll have a pair.
BTW, my Dad played football at USC, so wrong with Burgundy?
Seriously though, you're probably on some goofy marketing list.

alphadoggy,
I got one about a month ago also, maroon f150. I assumed it was a thankyou from a survey they sent for the ford insider program. The only reason I believe this is I got another(same as the first one) survey in the mail the other day to fill out and it said you would recieve a free gift if you did it. So I filled the second one out also, we'll see what shows up this time.

No offense to your dad, George, but I bleed Bruin blue. If they made a blue Lightning I would buy that, fer sure. Bruins took care of the Ducks last night, tomorrow the Beavers get the same medicine. Before I retired I worked for a supervisor who played ball at SC, and while the Bruins were on their 8 game win streak I'd go into his office with a big smile on my face. Didn't have to say a word. He was a really nice guy, though, so I didn't really try to rub it in.
Yep I got one in the mail too! Looks fine but I like the one my parts guy gave me better: 1/21 scale 99’ L in black! Now I just have to disassemble it and paint it white like it should be.

We know I tend to attract the weird ones. Spike Engineering,
what kind of dog is that in your sig? I have a dog that looks very similar to that and haven't a clue what the heck he's made from. I'm thinking your dog is much larger than mine, but the build is identical.

Ford peddles those 1:21 scale L.s for $17. I'd even consider buying one if it came in silver, but they only come in black and red. My kid gave me the 1/10 scale Tamiya R/C Lightning, which he lovingly painted silver, and he got another one for himself, which he painted white to match the Ranger I gave him. When he comes over to visit he brings his truck and we take them to the parking lot at Ventura Harbor and race them. It is too kewl, probably about as much fun as anything I've ever done. Just wish he lived stateside so we could do it more often. For those of you who don't have one, you need to get one. I'd suggest contacting Bill Murray.
Oh, and NeedFourSpeed, that is some heavy artillary you are packing. I only mentioned the pellet gun (a really nice Webley Tempest) because I can shoot from my bedroom into the back yard and nobody is the wiser. If I wanted to blow it up half assed I'd use one of my Glocks or my .357, but if I really wanted to blow it up I'd use my Defender 12 ga. with the pistol grip.
