Post Saleen 281-SC

Thinking of trading the Lightning for a new 281-SC Saleen. Smart move or not ??

Why not keep the Lightning , and get the Saleen S/C? That's my combo to be..

It depends on the year Saleen. I'm assuming you are talking about a new one.
The roots blower (Eaton M90) is heavily criticized by the Mustang crowd as overpriced and underpowered. They'll also continue to say that you can bolt on a hairdryer blower (vortech) for less money and get lots more horsepower.
However.........
Most of those guys haven't driven, let alone ridden in a roots blown Saleen to compare. I have driven both my car and a 99S281 with an intercooled Vortech.
My cars numbers are in my sig (slightly underpowered because I'm having some tuning issues with my modifications) and the 99S281's numbers are 417rhwp 390rwtq.

This is no B.S, when I say my car "feels" faster than his. It must be the torque that I have (380rwtq @ 3000rpm) , that creates the illusion. They are the exact same car except the blowers.

The Saleen reminds me of Lightnings. If you want power, it's there instantly. The vortech takes longer to produce boost.

Bottom line, you can spend the dough on a Saleen S/C and get a warranty..

Or,

Get the Saleen without the blower and add one yourself. (no warranty) If you plan on drag racing I would go with the Vortech. But then again, not a whole lot of people buy Saleens for the drags.
That would be a hard decision for me to make though...trading the L in for the Saleen. Good luck with your choice.

Yes, I'm talking about a new one. The Saleen dealers has four at the moment. 3 Three 2001'
s and a 2000. I wish I could have both a Saleen and keep the L, but I dont have the money to do it. Thanks for your reply.

The 2001 has the new 4th generation M90 and the 2000's have the 3rd generation M90 blower. The new ones produce 15 more horses (365)
