coolva,
Not to pi$$ in your cornflakes, but you compression is still 8.4:1 under boost. Your pistons and heads are engineered to give you low compression to run on pump fuel with a supercharger. If your compression did go up under boost, Ford would never be able to sell the trucks to run on fuel at the gas station. You would need racing fuel to drive it!! If your adding Oct-Boost or racing fuel to a low compression engine your waisting cash. Also making it hard on 02 sensors.
Though, it does smell good when it burns!

Sure, that takes care of the ping, but why! Are you in a location that your premium fuel is lower than 93/oct? If so , i can understand. If not, do you have a chip and new Mass Air Meter. Just trying to help! You should not have to add any Oct-Boost to run your truck!

Thor
I have 2 chips and both of them have had slight pinging problems on some tank fulls. There are a number of Texas Lightning owners who experience the same issues. It is likely a combination of the chip being a little high strung and the gas being a little less than advertised.
The commercial octane boosts are supposed to be o2 sensor safe.
I expect to get the new PSP programs this week and that may take care of the problem, but if it doesn’t Octane boost will. To me it is the cost of running it hard. Tires cost more, gas costs more, I sometimes have to add Octane Boost at the track. No matter what you believe the costs of o2 sensors is much less than the cost of pistons and valves.
Now adding the leaded high octane gas from the race track is crazy. The lead will get everything from the o2 sensors to the cats….

Doug,
Say no more! I have tested our Lincolns LS cars that take Premium only, on low Oct-Premium out your way! 02 sensors do cost less then pistons & valves.
Hope the next chip works out for you! Yes, running leaded anything in your tank, would be bad!!
Talk at ya later,
Thor.

Pulled my plugs out last night and swapped in the splitfires. This is what they looked like.

One more thing I was pondering. If the truck pings sometimes on "93" octane and the computer has the ability to pull a little timing to avoid pinging then the only time we hear it is after the computer has pulled all the timing it can. Soooo... If you are running at the strip and looking for a new personal best and burning Texas gas, and can afford the 6 bucks it makes sense to add a little octane boost to be sure your truck isnt pulling timing ( slowing you down ) in an effort to keep from self destructing.
Just my $0.02 your mileage may vary.
Thor the cool thing about sites like this is everybody gets to post thier position/opinion and we can all learn from each other and occasionally laugh with each other

Silver,
The redish color is from the octane boost as said above. I ran some octane boost only once so far in my 00, pulled the plugs and they looked just like yours.
