Short on '01 Production Goals
Looks like Ford is estimating they'll be short of their production goal of 7,500 Lightnings for the 2001 model year. They might only have time to build about 7,000 this year. This will likely drive prices up later in the summer when dealers run out.

Thats still 2000 more trucks than they built in 00 and they were being discounted by mid to late Summer. With the auto market softening and the increased numbers,I believe that the discounting will be more common than we have aready seen. Could be wrong too.

Who's going to buy them at higher prices in the midst of recession? Deeper pockets then mine 
The used L market needs a dose of reality too but still hope someday to buy one. Let's see what the new '01 on ebay closes at, then if it really sells. One auction just ended with no bids on a seemingly perfect low mileage truck.
ps. oh yeah my local dealer is really going to get $99k for their Cobra. right.

In today's The Washington Post, Wash.D.C., newspaper there was an '00 L for sale for about $28,500.

Get ready to wait some more.
My L has been down in Kent at the rail yard for about a week and 1/2.
They tell me that it's buried behind hundreds of vehicles and that they won't be able to dig her out until sometime next week
