Cool Weekend work!

Guess what I'll be doing this weekend if the weather holds out?

For your new 01 bolt owners, yes, I'm adding the keyless door opener. (Though I may wait until I get new speakers to put in. Haven't really made up my mind on that yet!)

Later!

Question

Where did you get the keyless entry door handle?

I saw the post before, but was wondering where you got it.

Saleen,

The BedRug cost me $354 shipped from bedrug.com, but there is a GP going on over at nloc.org for $330 Of course. 1 week after ordering mine, I see the GP. Oh well.

The other stuff I got a 10% discount at my ford dealer 'cuz I just bought the truck and I asked for a discount. The Keypad was $64.69 and the Handle was $54. This stuff was ordered at the parts counter at my Ford dealership. The part #'s:

Actuator assembly (keypad) YL3Z-14A626-AA
Handle assebly XL1Z-7822405-DAB (the DAB is the red color - don't know the other colors)

Lucky, I don't think the wiring already exists in the 99's. Not sure about it. I think it's included in the 00's + up. I know my truck had the keycode already in it. (WTF? Ford, why isn't this standard or at least an option?!) There are some old posts if you search. Also, Doug is kind enough to post the how-to over @ www.svtlightnings.com.

Good luck!
James

Question

Just wonderng why some of you are changing to keyless. I use that little thing they give you with the truck that goes on your key chain. Truck is open before I even get to it and locked as I walk away. It does look kind of cool, but why else would ya want one?

so u dont need ur keys to get in the truck....so u can lock ur keys in the truck if you go to the beach....

so u dont need to run in the house to grab ur keys if u r outside and need to grab something quickly...there are many reasons.
I used the one on my lincoln all the time

For me, the keyless will be great for those times I'll be near the truck, but want to lock my keys inside so I don't have to worry about them. Like when I'm playing softball or basketball, etc.

It's also handy if you accidentally lock your key inside. Which I'm sure I'll now do before I get the thing installed, even though I've never done that before on any vehicle I've owned!

James

PS I should have my Wheel locks in by this weekend as well. Cool!

Cool

You can leave it running in the wintertime when running into a store or somethiing, so it's all toasty warm without worrying someone will steal it.. I'll probably end up doing this too. Seems to be worth 120 bucks and some time... Thnaks for the parts nos.
