I have a Viper 800 on my 2000 and it works great. I have had no problems with it.

Post alarm for 2001

Looking for an alarm for my new truck. Dealer says only to use Ford alarm or CodeAlarm. He says do not use Viper. Any opinions welcome.

I am just curious. If your truck is stolen and not recovered, what sort of a hassle are you looking at with the insurance company on figuring out a value on the truck ? Does anyone have any horror stories reguarding this subject ?
As stupid as this sounds, I never even lock the doors on my vehicles. I figure if someone is gonna steal it, it doesn't matter if it is locked. And if someone wants in to steal something out of it, they are just gonna pop the window. So I just leave it unlocked and don't leave any valuables in it, that way at least I know I won't have to deal with the hassle of a broken window.

CC, I have a Clifford IG/9000 with backup alarm & battery for $817 total w/install (that's with a buddy discount) from Car Toys here in Tulsa. I am very happy with it so far. The $817 is worth it since my last 2000 was stolen back in September. I don't wish that whole mess on my worst enemy !!!

Hope this helps....

of course ford is going to tell you not to use anything but their own alarms.
viper IMO is the best out there. i have Viper on all my cars.

them telling you to use viper would be like going to pizza hut and them telling you that dominoes taste better so you should go there.

thats the reason i hate car salesmen and every dealership

Lightfootning, yes my '00 F-150 was stolen and recovered in N. Tulsa - beat all to HELL! (Although "insurance company" would disagree - but, that's another issue). Basically, if it is "somewhat recoverable", they will put a "buff" job on the paint and a "detail" job on the interior and tell you it's a new truck. That is my experience... learned the hard way ...

Question

I have the Viper 550E in my 2000. I have auto start, call comm and power windows up and down in it. Installed for around $600. I have had no problems with it cept when I dropped my keys in the lake, and had to use the call comm thing to get it home.

MisterSVT (Eric),

Which lake? (Thunderbird, Overholser, Hefner, etc?). I'm an OU grad and am familiar with the area ....

Hope to meet Albert and Alan again this spring at Thunder Valley. I understand you have been there as well. Hope to meet you then.

Angry

Lightfootning, '00Black, I don't know... it was gone one morning last August here in Tulsa. (No alarm then) I walked to work one Monday morning and it was gone. For almost a month, I couldn't eat, sleep or anything. They found it weeks later in north Tulsa trashed. Bottom line, I don't wish that on my worst enemy! We can talk more on this topic and the insurance implications off-line... just give me your email ...
I had it installed for $817 (out the door - buddy discount ...i'll see what I can do that for you if you are interested ...) through Car-Toys here in Tulsa. That is the Clifford Intelli-Guard 9000 with the battery & horn back-up system. I LOVE IT ! Even the pressure from the car-wash nozzle and a loud exhaust nearby will set it off ! I guess "security" comes at a price !

I run a Viper550ES on my 2000...works great... mine was $450 installed, but I don't have the autostart/etc.

I do have 134db air horns instead of a stupid beeping siren though.

My2003, I actually had this happen at Grand Lake. I am not much for taking this one to others, but it has been to Jet Ski Cove at Draper, one time. We usually head up to Grand with friends.

I am going to be making it more the TV this year as well, last year I got stuck working Friday nights

Hope to see ya there.
