Depends..The Cobra could be, if you shift really low, but the Lightning might be easier to get moving. It's toss up..I've never driven a Gen2, but I know my Gen1 is worlds better than my old 88GT 5-speed..If you can keep the L out of the boost and power bad I would give it a nod. The lower stance of the Cobra is bad too..

You will need winter tires for the L, but anything on summer tires is bad news on snow/ice, just ask the owner of a brand new Audi TT with BF Goodrich's that slid across the intersection down the street.

Because of the ground clearance and easy availability of winter tires for trucks, I would go (and went) for the L.

For either vehicle, my recommendation would be to buy a secondary set of rims and "skin" them with Blizzaks.

I added cinder blocks at the back of the bed on my L. Kinda hard to do that with a Cobra.

Ok, let me phrase, which would be the "worst" in the snow between the following:

1. 99 lowered Cobra, 5 speed, 255/45/17's, with traction control, but no weight can be added (because of lowering).

2. 01 Lightning with weight in the back, but, automatic, no traction control, and 295's out back.

I know neither is optimal, and I don't want a beater (I'd rather get winter rims and meats for the L), and I live in New England where the roads are cleared very well, but there are still 5-7 days out of a year where I have to drive when I shouldn't be.

Thanks for the insights.

(P.S. I changed my username from "99CObraownerwithdilemma" because it was too long and messed up people's screens. )
