Post I think torque converter is staying locked up HELP!!!!!!

about once every 3 days my L will go dead when i come to a stop the trans pulls the motor down until it goes dead . A trans man told me that either the lock up solenoid was bad or the chip was the problem I have JL's new program and was wanting to know if anyone else is having this problem

I vote for the solenoid. I had an old girlfriend with a (gag) cavalier that only did it when the car got good & warmed up, the solenoid was the problem.

I have the new JL program and everything is fine. I also vote for the solenoid. Strip the mods and take it to the dealer. ;-)

Have you pulled the chip and tried it?

If the chip caused the solonoid to fail, it may have written a code to the PCM, and your warranty is toast if it did. Signals sent to the PCM that are out of the factory specs can be recorded when a failure occurs, I don't know if they can source the signal, but if they know you had a chip, bet that the dealer will thry to blame the modification for the failure. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, hope it works out.

you boys need to get your L worked on at my dealership mods seem to be no ptoblem. The problem is they send all the tranny work to a local shop and of course they say it is the chip
