Smile Front End Noises - The Fix

I took the Lightning to a dealer today that has an excellent service department. The front end man was very knowledgeable. I brought the pictures from this chat line of the shifting bolt and washer with me. Sure enough,it had moved. The tech retorqued the bolt. He also put some heavy, longlasting grease on the steering stop to dull the metal to metal contact clunk caused by the metal stud steering stop hitting metal. Problem solved. The whole fix took about six minutes.

That is not a fix.. Check out all posts by action911... This is the fix.. Welding is not necessary, and re-torques will loosen with time.. Pay a little money for perfection.. Well worth it..

I had mine tightened twice, first time did nothing, second time has worked for over 6 months. I can make those pieces, but I don't feel they are needed (so far).

Installing Herb's washers this weekend. This is the way to go. No weldind and no more movement. replace your nuts at the same time. Do not try and reuse them.
