Question How difficult is it

to remove (and later replace) the passenger seat? I would think that this would be a substantial weight saving benefit at the strip. Is this something you fast guys are doing prior to running?

I believe so. From people I have talked to, some of these fast guys are stripping their trucks down and going to the track. They are then saying that they only have a chip and filter when running those times - never mentioning that they have stripped 400lbs out of it. But they might not consider that a modification. Not that there is anything wrong with doing that, it is just better to tell the whole truth than lying about it.

Quite easy - only four bolts I think. Only problem is you are left with no handy place to put your timeslips.

Well, I wouldn't really consider that a modification, either, just common sense to get the truck as light as possible to run better times. We're not talking tube frame and acid bathed body panels. The time in my sig was with everything on the truck, including trailer ball, just to get an indication of what it would do in street trim. I didn't even reduce the tire pressure. But next time you can be sure that the tailgate, ball mount, and spare tire are coming off, and tire pressure going down. And, if I can manage it, passenger seat out. I just want to know if this is something I can manage by myself, or am I going to need help?

Spiro, Johnny L, and I think PFA took their seats out with ease when we were at Norwalk. (done it a few times I guess)

I tried the tailgate and spare removal... MAJOR wheel spinnage (course that was on the street too.

**bonus**

When with a group at the track, it gives you a cool seat (with armrest and beverage holder) between sessions.

Cool

Hey George, I'll be picking the truck up tomorrow...and will be breaking it in this next week. If all goes well (and I acutally do have the truck in my possesion), how about we take ourselves up to Fomoso, I'll even come over and help you remove everything. I'm as curious as everyone else on what the new 01's run stock. Sound like a plan?

My best with a chip & filter only, was a 13.07. ALL parts on the truck including hitch, except the spare. I weigh 290, so I don't consider that much savings. Lloyd
