Ok, so I just replaced my plugs and COP's about 100 miles ago and my truck just ate up another plug or two. I haven't checked them yet and will be doing so today, but my questions are:

A. What is the recommended gap for NGK TR6 plugs running this: 6# lower pulley and CAI?

B. Could my fuel filter cause the truck to lean out and in return cause the plugs to be eaten up? (That is me thinking out loud and I am by no means a mechanic, so if that doesn't make sense just say, "Hey man there's no way that could happen).

Oh and before you guys jump my *** about the search button, I tried to use it several times but the server was dragging and it would just shoot me to a "server is busy" page.

 

SOME reasons trucks eat plugs:

1) LEAN due to clogged fuel filter. (replace filter)

2) LEAN due to failed or disconnected fuel pump. (have fuel pressure checked)

3) Too lean or too much timing in your tune. (get a new dyno tune done)

Gap for TR6's with a 6#er should be about .032, but honestly TR6's are too hot for a 6#er you should run something colder, like a TR7 or BR7.

 

WHAT??

TR6's too hot with 6lber? I have been running that... I should be running something else? shoot...

even with 170 t-stat?

Thanks for the offer badmerc, you're in Decatur right? I started changing my plugs out last night and finished the driver's side. I will start working on the passenger side tonight and have the truck completely finshed. Pitstain hit the nail right on the head. When I pulled my plugs they were all still together, but the tips were extremely white indicating I needed to have a colder plug. I am putting the BR7EF's in and changing the fuel filter. Hopefully, this will fix my problem.

 

I am running BR7's @ 18 psi on the KB and they have performed flawless and I also change my fuel filter every 10K. Hope you get it worked out. We are coming to Huntsville next month when it starts to cool down a little at night, I'll give you a shout. Hope you get it worked out and running good.

 

Yep, I live in Decatur. I run tr6 with a kb at 18#'s of boost. They work good for me. But I do have 60# ejectors and all supporting mods. I have alot of stock parts laying around(injectors, pumps, ect) that you could swap if you still have a problem. I plan on going to Hunstville Friday night. I just starting learning how to run on the drag strip. Only been 3 times. Let me know if I can help ya out.

 

I "plan" on heading to the dragstrip Friday night as well. My brother should have his car back this afternoon and I'll probably ride with him down there.

What kind of times are you putting down at the strip?

I should know more about what I've got planned later this week. If I do go I'll probably be riding in a white TA WS6. My brother will hopefully have all his suspension issues addressed and he's looking to finally dial it in.

Ran a 8.2 two weeks ago there. I dont know if thats good or not. I got a conservative tune putting down 480/530. I'll be there around 8pm in my red L. I would love to see rotowash run his built L. Some of my friends went to Tuscumbia's drag strip a couple of months ago and saw a L running in the 7's. I bet it was him.

 

badmerc, what kind of mods do you have?

Also, did you run on slicks, DR's, or street tires?

 

kb 2.3, 60# injectors, maf extender, dynatech long tubes, ftvb, afco heat exchanger, nitto dr, 255 fuel pumps, lakewood bars, rwtd tune, stock block. Run 15/16#'s of boost right now. wot a/f running 11.3

 

247 is hit an miss with traction. best ive ever got here was a 8.3 on a hot motor. saw rotorwash up there but didnt get to see him run, it was packed that nite.
