Some of my friends went to Tuscumbia's drag strip a couple of months ago and saw a L running in the 7's. I bet it was him.

8.2 aint bad. What kind of 60'? This is a bad time of the year to look at time slips. If you go 8.2 now you should go 8.0-8.1 in Sept. My quick ET with the ported Eaton and basicly the same mods you have was 8.1 on DR's and probably a little more agressive tune...blew it up over a year ago. It was my fault really. I burned up a plug two days before and ignored the reason why...ran it from a 50 roll in Sept with 40 degree temps, 16 psi and toooooo much timing.

I havent ran at huntsville with my current set up. I have been working out a few bugs and The DR's are impossible to manage. 1.9 with half throttle through 1st....Quick ET so far has only been 7.68. I guess I cant complain too bad, the tranny is still stock....I mean pure stock (no valve body or line pressure added). Mickey is right about 247 the left lane is the only one I run in, seems a little better this year.

I wish one of you guys would set up a meet...I would def show up and try to round up a few more L's. I have been promising 01_white_light that we would do hooters in huntsville soon....someone take charge and put something together.

Ya'll look out for the turbo T/A....I hear it's pretty quick.

My 60ft times are 1.8. I hook everytime. I stall up to 1500rpm and then floor it. Gonna try stalling alittle higher this Fri night. Everyone keeps asking what kind of tires I'm running. Yea my tune is very conservative, 11.3 afr with timing at 12*. I could get more out of it, but I'm at 480hp now, so its good enough for me until I go built. An L meeting would be great. I would love to meet up and BS some. Let me know when you go back to the strip, I'll ease over there and run some. Me and some buds are planning to go to Steel drag way soon to run a 1/4 track. Its NE of birmingham.

It ain't that fast. Best, he's cut so far has been a 8.0 on a broke rear end, and still tuned for speed density.

He's got the tune back in MAF and a new rear end that has been properly setup this time. So, hoping to see mid to upper 7's depending on the weather and my brother's driving. He's still on the stock block, and running only 5 psi. He's got methanol injection but hasn't used it since he put it on. He may just get mad Friday and crank the boost up to 8 psi and spray the meth.

Hopefully, I'll see you there badmerc.

Well I dont know.....8.0 seems pretty darn quick, Especially with a broke rear, Stock block and low boost. It wasnt all that long ago that an 8.5 car would mop up on the streets.....It just seems like everyone keeps getting faster and what I think is quick may not be all that fast.....8.0 is haulin' the mail IMO.

Ok guys thanks for all the help. I got the plugs changed and a new fuel filter.

I am still having a problem though. Through the RPM's the trucks runs fine. I can stomp it from a dig and it feels great. I stab it from a roll and the truck feels like it is hitting a rev limiter up top around 80-85 MPH. Basically it gives me a slight stutter that won't stop until a I let up.

Becareful, I know of 2 guys who were melting plugs and then vented their block. Whats your mods? Spark blowout? Pegging maf? You got anyway to data log anything. Ran an 8.3 last night. Just too hot outside. I think I saw the TA. I got a aeroforce guage that we could possibly hook up to your OBD2 port to see if we can find something.

badmerc,

I saw your L, and that is a very clean ride. You must have run before we got there. I stood by your truck for a few minutes hoping you'd walk by. My brother did run his car. He broke the limited slip on his launch, luckily the guy who set it up for him was there with another car he built. We spoke with him in the pits and my brother told him to take it for a ride and see what he thought, but he refused to ride or drive. He just told him to bring it back to the shop on Monday and he'd tear it back apart.

Also, the car was tuned in speed density due to an issue with the MAF at the time, once my brother got that problem fixed he got the tuner to put the tune back in MAF mode, but he never put it on a dyno afterwards to tweak the tune. So, needless to say when he put the MAF back on it compensated for all that extra air being moved through with a lot more fuel and the car was running too rich. The car basically pulled stock times. He carrying it to the shop today and hopefully have it fixed this coming weekend.

I'm running a metco 6# lower, NGK BR7EF plugs (gapped at .036), 03-04 Cobra CAI, boost by-pass, no cats or resignators. My tune was done with a Diablo Predator hand-held and tweaked on a dyno at Delk's Performance in Lebanon.

Looks like you replaced cops, plugs, fuel filter. Only other things I can think of is sparkplug blowout, pegging maf, fuel pumps, iat2 very hot, high timing. We can hook up my aeroforce guage to if we can find something. You wanna meet one day after work.

GMS....I think he put those on about 3-4 months ago. I was gonna say high IAT2's or spark blow out. I had spark blow out on 16psi gapped @ .036 last year. I backed the gap down to .032 and put in a boost-a-spark, Problem solved. I had the same symptoms. I would suggest looking at the IAT2's, this time of year with that much boost the H/E may not be getting the job done.

Another thing....If you still have any stock COP's left you may want to put them in just to confirm that the GMS COP's arent the culprit. Good luck.

Bruce

Yes, many are reporting very short life from all aftermarket coil packs. I would try some stock coils to confirm.
Jim
BTW, I run TR6s at boost levels up to 23#s. Most JDM customers run them at high boost levels and even with nitrous.

Yep I tried the GMS. Nothing but stuttering. I run stockers now.
