SMOKEY EXHAUST
I have 22k miles on my 99 lighting and the only mods are a filter kit and jl ram air and I noticed this morning when I cranked it up on cold start and a nice cloud of thick white smoke came out of the exhaust and kept coming out till the engine heated to normal operating tempature. It has never done this before and it was 65 degrees that day. any help would be apperciated.
Is your intercooler leaking or have you payed any attention to that? If it is,it's very likely that thats the coolant burning off. A leaking intercooler should act the same as a blown head gasket,if it leaks alot. The head gasket is easy to check. Pull your oil dipstick and check the fluid. If it looks like a milk shake then usually you've got a blown head gasket,BUT if your intercooler let enogh coolant by it could also do the same thing.Check your intercooler resivoir and your oil then go from there. You don't have a chip do you? If you don't I would be very surprised at it being a head gasket. Ford's programming is pretty conservative. Hope that at least gets you on the right track!!
