Question **Calling clonetek**

Hi clonetek,

I have an opportunity to replace my Snug-Lid with a Pro-Sport. I would like to know how the front edge of the cover is mounted, (how many visible screws or bolts, visible hinges, etc.)? Thank you very much for any answers you can provide.

Later,
Jake...

the cover comes with a brace that goes across the front cap of the bed. (screws in)
then the hinges for the bedcover screw into the brace.
when the lid is closed, you can see maybe a 1/8 inch of the tab (male part of the hinge) that sticks out of the bedcover. you cant see any thing else with the cover closed.

also, be sure to pre-drill all your holes...
it'll keep you from breaking the screws.

i can take pics if needed...

Clonetek, could you please take pictures, I really like the cover, but I'm not big on the idea of drilling a lot of holes, and worse, I don't want it to be visable if I do. Thanks

Brooks, thanks for the pictures. Just one last question, if you could do it over again, would you?? The drilling doesn't really get me jumping at this, but I LOVE the cover, and am willing to make a small sacrafice. And by the looks of it, it doesn't look like they are horribly visiable which is cool. Thanks again.

Thank Clonetek, you've made my mind up. Thanks a lot. Maybe I'll paint the metal parts black if that's possible at all without guming up the hinges.

i'm sure you could paint the hinges black marcus... use something that will be hard to scratch.. also, if you want to, use a black magic marker to "color" the screw heads after putting everything together.
unless you want to tape everything off & spray paint them.

baby jake - that was my first bedcover install ever! illinois is kinda far away, but if you guys ever need help just send me a message..

clonetek@jam.rr.com
my icq # is 3741515

a few pointers:
1 first off - check the box it comes in!!!
make sure it hasnt been damaged by the shipping company!

2 take time to "dry fit" everything. get an idea on how everything should go together.
the cover didnt come with very good instructions.

3 pre-drill ALL your holes for the screws!!!
i broke off several screws before i started doing that. dont get the hole too big, or too small.. drilling out stainless steel screws SUCKS!

4 when mounting the lift shocks - i tried to screw the bottom bracket too close to the top of the plastic rail. found out that there isnt anything behind the plastic cap on the rails. the ball that the shock mounts to should be just below the bottom edge of the plastic rail. you'll get a good bite there.

5 dont let the cover drop on the truck.. its heavy! also, dont close it when the tailgate is down. it comes close to the paint. (scratched mine a bit) oops.

anything else i need to cover?
