Question Has anyone tried this?

Has anyone tried this filter kit?

http://www.autophysics.com/

The filter I am talking about is the cone filter called the Quick Change Unit.

Here is the discription: (check out the picture from the web site)

The quick change unit can fitted to existing intake systems, or, it can be used to totally replace it! Attached to the deep coaxial inner cone front of the filter is a flexible 3-1/8" inside diameter hose that can be routed to the front of the car, in the grille, air dam, bumper, or wherever maximum cold air can be accessed. The cold air blows directly into the deep coaxial inner cone filter, to maximize the air density. The sides of the QCU are open, to allow additional flow when it is needed. Sealed cold air intake systems decrease flow rates because at high rpm at wide open throttle, the engine needs more air than can be sucked through a long tube or hose. By attaching the air filter as close as possible to the throttle body, the QCU allows you to have the best of both worlds. Cold air routed directly to the filter, but when extreme flow rates are needed, if the air capacity of the tube is exceeded, additional air is freely mixed in with all the cold air that the duct can handle. This simple yet ingenious design makes a remarkable performance improvement.

It is about $200.00 cheaper than the JL Ram Air Kit.

Here are the prices:

Quick Change Unit Filter Length Suggested
Retail Price
5" $75.00
6" $78.00
7" $81.00
8" $84.00
9" $87.00
10" $90.00
12' $95.00
24oz Service Kit $20

Base inlet/flange i.d. sizes available: 2.25", 2.75", 3.00". 3.25", 3.50" 4.00", 4.50", 6"

I have that filter. I don't have any pics of it, and it's off for the winter. I do think that it helped some, but I'm not sure compared to Johnny's kit. One disadvantage is that it is all flex hose up to the filter and it does not come with a scoop. If your not up to spending the money on a metal, smooth tubing, this would be a good alt.

I purchased a scoop from Johnny when we met at Norwalk. He had an extra one with him. I believe you can also purchase them from Autophysics, or maybe a speed shop.

RTKilla,

Here is a picture of the setup I used to have.

I still have the filter (for sale). Used less than 6 months and clean.
