Are Fuel upgrades needed for the Magnum Powers Blower

I just got a sweet deal on a used complete Magnum Powers Blower and I am currently running a Stock Eaton with a 6# lower on my stock block 2001 Lightning. I have a 3#er also I want to run the most boost I can without any fuel or MAF upgrades can I run the 6#er safely? Wife is a little upset about buying the MP and just don't need to be buying a bunch of stuff to go with it right now. Oh on the current set with the Eaton I got 408/522 on the dyno what should I see with the MP.
Thanks
jeff

You are definitely going to need some type of maf extender and a tune at the very minimum. I know it would be hard to do, but you should hang on to the MP until you can get the other goodies to go with it. This is the hell of the mod bug, once it starts, there is no turning back.

With a 6# and ported Eaton at 14.5 boost, I almost maxed out my maf on the dyno. My fuel system was good for it at that range as well. Once you top over the 450 hp range, fuel may become a major issue as well.

Good luck with it.

Jeff I'm pretty sure I still have my Maf Extender SOMEHWHERE ???
I have the one that has to be hard wired in but it's dam near brand new and works as perfect as buying a SCT BA2400.
I believe there are two wires to hook up (you can do it right at the Maf if you desire) if you need it it's yours for free, I just have to find it but I keep everything together in my closet so I think I know where it is, let me know...

I would suggest trying to contact Charles at Magnum Powers, as I recall in the past, he was very responsive to questions on how best to use his blower.

The MP probably has the 2.7 upper so with the 6 lb. lower you could see another lb. or 2 of boost over your current setup. Compared to the unported eaton with the 6 lb. lower, you should also see lower IAT2 temps. This means that the pcm will be less likely to pull timing than with the eaton. All of that translates into a few hp over your eaton setup. If you don't upgrade the maf you'll be asking for trouble in the cooler weather.

About the same as if you ported the eaton, 430/530 if you want a guess. You probably won't need any fuel upgrades at this level but if you want to spin that MP harder, you will.

Sorry I wasnt on line yesterday : o (
I'll look for it when I get home and more important I'll look for the directions.
Either way send me your Shipping Address
We have outgoing UPS daily so I'll make sure it goes out tomorrow

rob3832@hotmail.com
If i end up paying ups I'll let you know but usually I get away with it....

BTW
There's diff settings, (it's capable of handling over 1000HP)
LEAVE IT WHERE IT IS, on the first setting it'll handle 600HP no prob....

If I cant find a copy of the directions (sal has the originals) I'll talk to the Company I got it from and try and get you something
As said it's EXTREMELY easy to install (just need to know the right wire to cut it into) but I also want to make sure I have the jumper plug. Thats so you can install it and then put the jumper plug in so you can still drive it on the factory settings (until you get in on a Dyno)

Guys thanks for all the replies I'll put the extender from Rob on and watch my wideband O2 and see what it does with my 15deg tune. I got a 17deg tune but was getting some detonation at the track with it and changed it to the 15deg with no problems which is the tune I got 408/522 on. I'm planning on putting the blower on Tuesday and will drive it easy until I get the Extender. I figure if I can put a blower on a Miata and clean the intercooler on the L I can handle the blower change and wiring. Rob thank you so much I have sent you a e-mail with my address. And let me know if it cost you anything for shipping.I'll call Charles and talk to him sent a e-mail to him but got no replies yet.
Thanks again and let me know if I need to know anything else.

Jeff

I E-Mailed you the Instructions, and the Fuel Table Charts (PDF's) for your Tuner this morning (or was that last night ?)

And it's all boxed up and ready for UPS to pick up (they come back later in
the afternoon for pick ups)

Glad to see it go to good use
