I have a buddy that just bought a 96 Lightning and I have not yet gotten to see it. I was just wondering what motor came in the Lightning before the Tritons came out? Was it the 5.0 or the 5.8? Was it super charged or not?

What was the Horsepower rating on those trucks verses the new Lightnings?

PLEASE HELP!!!

 

No 96. 93-95 only. Came with the Windsor 5.8L V8. Not sure about hp, but run the quarter in the low 15s.

240 hp / 340 tq on a stocker (naturally aspirated).
Not too many of these babies are stock though. Bolt on a supercharger (kits range from $2000-4000) and the truck will hit the 13s without much else. They are also lighter than the new lightnings, and have remarkable handling.

Best of all, there are tons and tons of aftermarket parts out there for them, and the trucks are very easy to work on.

I have to say even though I love my L, The 93-95s are even more fun. That low 15 feels faster than out high 13 stock . real fun ith the 410s

 

I absolutly love my lightning. The 4.10's are fun. I'm thtinking about a '01, but if I get it I will always keep the 93.
