Question To sipe or not to sipe; this is my question?

I got my new Toyo's (295/45/18 Proxes) put on my chrome wheels today (looks kick ***). They talked me into sipeing the tires. It was only $10.00 each, and they had a lot of tech. B.S. saying it would make the tire run cooler, last longer, and have better traction. Did they take me for $40.00, or it this a good thing? By the way, while I was there (Discount Tire in Round Rock) someone dropped off a white L. Was it any of you?

DO NOT sipe high performance tires. They will wear out alot quicker and you'll get nothing from it. High performance tires are softer.
touring tires yes you'll get better traction and a longer life.

I also read in Truckin magazine where a reader ask the editor. It was highly recommended not to do it. They claimed it would void your factory warranty along with what the others have said. Hope they'll cover you.

Tires have warranty's? Never heard of a tire problem that wasn't caused by a nail (or some other foreign object).

I've heard sipeing doesn't help, but doesn't hurt either...

They said they called Toyo and that they said no problem. They also did not cut within 2" of the sidewalls, only the middle of the tire. I hope I find out it voids Toyo's warranty. After 10,000 miles they (Discount Tire) can buy me a new set!!! I'll tell you one thing, these tires have better grip in water than the F1's ever did! I drove through the Laser wash this afternoon and when I left with water and wax on the tires, it took more gas to throw the truck sideways. With the F1's it normaly spins half way around, the back today barely got loose. Only time will tell.
