Not trying to discount a win here, but what did the car do--it sounded like he missed 3rd or something went wrong--then got back in it. Either way, after the race, did he come back down pit road, or sneak out the back way?

It appeared that the guy in the vette didn't make 2 to 3 shift. Anyway, it is speculation whether he could have made up the deficit by the finish line (my biased opinion is that he wouldn't have). I do know one thing, he sure as hell would have lost a race on a 1/16th mile track.

Moral of the story; if you have a C-5 and you mess up against a Generation II in the 1/8, you lose.

Maybe it's that trick GM transmission, where it decides what gear you need, even with a manual.
Of course, maybe he had the same mechanic I had one time, putting a new 4 speed trans & shifter in a '71 Chevelle. It was most entertaining leaving the dealership going 2nd-1st-4th-3rd. Took it back and the mechanic says -"You know,I did have to bend the rods quite a bit to hook everything together. Maybe I didn't need to".....

 

DAMN IT! When the heck did this happen?? I wanna go too!!! You guys need to keep me in the loop! :P

Tentative plans are for Hallsvile on February 3rd. Autocross at TMS on February 11th. We'll keep you posted.

 

TMS? as in texas motor speedway? is this a parking-lot size event or a full track day?

The guy in the vet did miss 3rd gear. He also said his best time of the night was a 8.7. Sixpipes would of taken him anyways.LOL
