Post worked on a 98 cobra today

I had a 98 cobra in my shop today. The guy was in for regular service. I took it for a test drive and was not inpresed at all. Whan the guy came to pick it up he started running off at the mouth about how fast he was. He said that he had a chip in it and that nothing would touch it. He even had the ***** to tell me that he would keep up with a viper.Being the professional that I am and the shop owner I asked him if he thought he could beat an f-150. He said any day. Being really ontop of my game I asked him if he would bet on it. He said yes, how much? I said double or nothing on your bill. He took it like fish to water. As we wre walking to our car/truck he said that he thought that the svt emblems on my truck were cute.So we went out on the street behind my shop and I showed him how cute my truck is. Nedless to say when we got back to the shop lunch was on me. That is one cobra guy who now knows what LIGHTNING means.

What kind of doofus was this clown? You'd think somebody driving a SVT car would know the details of a SVT truck. When he said your SVT emblems looked cute, was he thinking you put them on yourself or something? I remember owning a 97 Cobra and the first day I saw/read about the Lightnings coming out, I started saving the articles. I must have known then, there was trading on the horizon.....Maybe your "trainee" is standing on the local Ford lot right now, staring at a certain pickup with cute emblems.

Interesting kill.

Do you think he'll be a return customer?

The guy was really cool. He is a good customer and when he comes back I hope to see him in a L. He was really impresed with my L.

I used to own a '97 Cobra. It was a fun car to drive. A little underpowered, but mine ran pretty strong. I traded it in with 16k miles and took a loss on the trade because I had to get the L after the five minute test drive. Needless to say, I had read every damn thing in print at the time (and probably since then too) about the Lightning, so I knew far more than the salesman could ever hope to learn.

Nice car, but no L for sure. I wouldn't mind still having it though with a nice prepped engine and a Vortech supercharger or twin turbo.
