Talking New Mods installed (TB & JL Reburn)

Everyone,

Just wanted to pass on my experience from my 2 recent mods. I took 1/2 day off yesterday and struck gold.

1) SB TB - I picked this up from Mark S (uni4money@aol.com). He had the L linkage welded on the TB. The only change that I did was to turn the TPS 180 degrees. I utilized 2 hex head screws (5mm x 30) in place of the the 2 phillips. As mentioned, the whine/hissing whatever you want to call it is very noticable from the drivers seat. You really don't hear it from the passenger side. There is a noticable off the line improvement.

The only problem I encountered is when I was removing the TPS harness. Upon squeezing the connector to release it, it broke into 1 million little pieces. While it stays connected, I think I am going to ty-wrap it on there just to be 100% sure.

2) It just so happens that my JL reburn came while I was test driving the TB install. Anyway, I also was running the std R9 before JL's chip. My one complaint was high end power. At the track it just seemed to let off around 80'ish. My first test drive was just a civilized drive around town. The drivability seems a bit better. The shifts were very consistent. I did take it up to 90 and it was pulling strong the whole way.

Then last night, I took it for another "test" drive. Bettina(wife) commented on how much calmer it was a cruising speeds. But when I got on it, she said she noticed that it seemed faster. (Note..she drives an Xterra, so I could walk backwards on my butt cheeks faster than she can go ) Anyway, we went looking for trouble, but there were no takers. I believe that JL's chip will provide a better ET, but I won't guess until I go to the track in the spring (JDM Festival in March).

All in All, the truck is becoming more alive. My last perf mod for this year will probably be the JDM pulley...then again the year is young.....
