Exclamation Oil in Rubber Tube

I have been reading many posts concerning oil in the rubber air path tube to the throttle body. When my truck was new I noticed the plastic tube running to the left (driver) valve cover was too short - it kept slipping out of the TBI induction tube when the engine was torqued on takeoff. The remedy that I came up with was simple - add about 2" of hose to the plastic valve cover tube - use plastic finger clamps to secure at the added hose and the hose at the valve cover - I have experienced no oil in the air path to date. Hope it works for all of you. Cruiser

I am having the problem with oil in the black tube big time. Please explain how your fix would cure this ill. I can't understand how this will solve my problem. Thanks.

beechwood - keep in mind that plastic tube is for the crankcase ventilation system - if that tube ingests unfiltered air,is restricted or coming out of the valve cover, oil will come back through the tube - seems to be worse in a high vacuum/no vacuum situation - as in stop light racing. Also be sure to check the PCV valve (should be in right valve cover),make certain the valve is 'free' (shake it - you should hear a rattle),if you do - all is fine - if not -start inspecting and replacing as needed. The fix I have used seems to work - the biggest part is to be sure that the tube is sealed at all points including the air inlet tube! Cruiser

Cruiser, I was wondering what kind of performance increase did you receive from installing the smaller blower pulley?

HANKFAN - instant throttle response - even with the stock air box! The only bad thing is no hook-up - remember there is an API trans chip - serious monster torque at any given time! More fun to drive on long hauls - you can watch the traffic 'disappear' in the rear view mirror under normal throttle! Cruiser

Cruiser, did the pulley make more of a performance increase than your chip?

HANKFAN - both are equal - one seems to complement the other - between both - the truck puts out some monster torque! Cruiser
