Ok, I re-ordered a 2001 Lightning in early September. My question is, is it bad that I haven't recieved my build date, OR VIN# yet???

I ordered mime in November, the dealer told me it was allready on order. I have a build date of 2/19/01

Call your salesman tell him you want your VIN and build date. If he really wants to he can get you your info. If he won't help you ask for the sales manager.

 

I have a salesman at Villa Ford in Orange trying to get a deposit out of me for a silver 01. I already have a deposit with Santa Margarita Ford. He guarantees the purchase price at window but won't come down so I won't change (and probably wouldn't because sometimes trying to save a few bucks backfires). So... if you're dealer doesn't cut loose with a VIN number make a change...

 

You should have your VIN and build date. The info is in Ford's computer. I would agree with the others. If your salesman isn't on the ball, get another. I ordered my truck in July and my salesman is great. He checks my order all the time, and updates me as soon as he sees info. Of course, I also check my order, but it's good to know my salesman is doing a good job following up.

I put money down and ordered a L on 9/15/00. I just called ford (computer) and it said my build date would be the week of March 5th. When I first ordered my dealer said I probably would get it the end of Jan. Does it make a difference what color? I ordered a silver. Oh well Im ready for spring now. Patient is a virtue.

 

Thanks all, I just e-mailed my dealer right now. If I don't get a response today, then I'll call him tomorrow, and depending on his answers to my questions, I'll go from there.

And, as Trabuco said, "sometimes trying to save a few bucks backfires" , I hope you're wrong, b/c that's the only reason why I'm with this guy now, b/c it is going to save me a few bucks. I hope things don't get screwed over.
