HELP!! which heater core hose is inlet?
I am in the process of installing the temp sending unit for my autometer gauges.Ther are two hoses that go into the heater core.
right/left
d.side/p.side
looking at the truck from the front, which is the inlet? d.side or ps side??
Thanks guys.
i do not want to take out the plug in the block,id rather get the temp on the top of the motor like the factory, the block would be a little hotterand more accurate but I dont feel comfortable doing this.
Is this where you guys have installed the sending unit(heater core hoses)???
To me it looks like the easyest without interupting anything major.
Oh yea, looks as though I will be losing a coil again. The famous #4 coil was dirty and I touched the bottom of the hose above to find out it is wet. They did not even fix this after putting in a new coil??!! what idiots. This is called fixing the symptom not the probleM!!

Its done,It works the *****.Then i had to disasemble it until my pillar comes in.I used the d. side hose and it works flawlessly.
NOTE.... when doing this using heater hoses with a TEE,Make sure you ground the sender or you will get very little reading. It took me a while to figure it out but,These senders are made to be self grounded into the block. It can be done in line of hose, you just need to add a wire to the bolt.

HI!... LIGHTNINGQUICK : Yes, the heater hose closest to the driver's side is the proper one to tap. I installed a mechanical AUTOMETER temp guage about a year ago and that's how I did it. Hope this helps you out, or at least assures you that you tapped the right hose.

Thanks neal,
Heres a good one.I called my dealer to find out what size the hole was so i could buy a tee. They had no clue, they only listed a stock number.I think its a 5/8 hose now because i used a 1/2 tee that fit perfect.
3/4 hose= 5/8 tee
5/8 hose= 1/2 tee
I also asked about what was the wire that sent the signal from the 02 sensor to the ecm, they again had no clue.I got a call back and they told me the red/yellow wire.Im glad i did not go with their advice,i would be buying another gauge!!
I used summit which contcted autometer which i confirmed on their site.
Makes you wonder what they know,
