Those look like some real fast stock times so,if you wanted to compare ,I must say they would be fair. That would put my CHIP/FILTERED lightnings around #2-3 Not bad huh!!!!I stand behind my earlier comments even firmer now.

Well I haven't raced a C5 vette yet ,but I'd like to share this info. I've got two friends one with a LS1 Firebird (modded, runs low 13's now) and a friend with a high 13 LT1 Maro. I raced both on two different occasions. The Firebird I ran from a roll and lost by 1.5 to two car links. I ran from a standstill and beat him by two car lengths. This should show the Lightnings strong point and weakness. Now I also raced my Buds Maro the other day and it was around 34 degrees outside. I could not hook the truck up at all and lost everytime. It would spin all the way through first and most of the time into second. We never ran from a roll, but I could not catch him once I got traction. So if your Lightning hooks up you can definitely run with LS1 cars, and Vettes,BUT if it doesn't you will not catch them and they will eventually pull away from you. Thats just my opinion on it,and I want race anyone when it's under 50 degrees as it's useless with no traction!!

Hilander, If you had a chip you would have pulled him about a car length out of the hole. Man get a chip, you don't know what you're missing.

One day you're gonna get smoked by a Vette, or a rare import like an E55 and I can't wait to see/hear your reaction. I'm gonna laugh my a$$ off when you say, "I got smoked by one of those imports."

Thanks for all the info.
By the the way the Vette was a stick hard top. The race went down with no tyre spin from both of us. As I said the altitude up here kills the performance. My L will spin a little to a lot depending on the road surface. On this occasion I rolled on the throttle. Looking back maybe I could have launched harder with no spin then again maybe not. I am new to the L and have not found the best launch yet. After all I am still breaking her in. I am used to racing and have had quite a few fast cars.
The top end on the LS1 cars sure are impressive though.
Trying to order a chip and pully, that should help. That and a few more miles.

I owned a 98 6sp vette with a chip and intake system. It would blow the doors off my R9/filtered L at highway roll-ons, but would be sniffing the rear wheel well off a standing start. And we're talking about a modded C5, not stock. I wasn't all that impressed with the torque and the gearing of the vette. Torque is everything!

ralleyone- Amen! The C5 leaves like a PIG, thanks to its puny gears. The upside was, it wouldn't spin in a mudhole and was fairly consistent. Best short time I ever got from it was a 1.99 with the mods. I got a 1.98 out of the L stock when it had 500 miles on it. My 60s are in the low 1.95-range on stock tires now. Like I said, ET aside, the L just FEELS faster
