Talking Power Pipe for our Lightnings

I spoke with a gentleman today from Anderson Motorsports that is making a power pipe for our L.He said that it would replace the rubber boot and would connect between the mass-air and the throttle body he is going to dyno this pipe to see what the gains will be and if it works out for gains it would be available by spring!
Does anybody know or have experience with the power pipe installed on a vehicle!I know they use them on cobras, what kind of gains are they getting with it!

Thumbs up

Well it's really not that big of deal to make one,but on my old blown 93 it did make a difference. I made my own by using 4 inch pipe. I'd be real curious on what it does for these trucks. I used it on a Vortech. Keep me posted on what they find out and I'll fab me something up myself!!

Wouldn't aluminum transfer more under hood heat to the incoming air than rubber does since metal transfers heat better. Or is this negligible since the intercooler would be after the power tube? Just wondering.

I hate that rubber boot and was wondering about it just last night. It seems to me that its bumpiness and bent curvature would cause major turbulence to the incoming air charge.

SVT-Snake, I see your point, but there is so much metal downstream of the boot, I don't think it matters.

NFE Jason,

I'm sure John told you he sold the Vette? It's now at a local car lot up here. Yes, it did make a big change in how the Vette ran.

Glad to see you got your Lightning

I recently sold my 94 Supercharged Corvette. A couple months before I sold it I replaced the pancaked Vortech intake pipe with a 3.5" tubular pipe and I gained nearly 60 hp. Obviously that wouldn't be the case on the L because the stock pipe isn't squished like the Vortech's was, but I'm sure it'll make a difference. It was an awesome addition to the vette and gained me so much power I had to reprogram my fuel curve. The car ran high 12's @ 113 w/o the pipe and did a best of 12.2 (street tires) @ 122 with it!
