question about boost on a '02 lightning
Figure close to 400.00 for the XCal2 with tax and shipping, then 200.00 for the Pulley + Belt with tax and shipping, so there's @ 600.00
So if he's installing the pulley, plus making some Dyno Pulls, plus giving you a Custom Tune or 3 (By the way the X Cal holds 3 tunes so get 3 diff ones),
then YES all that for 170.00 is a very fair and what I consider a very good deal

Well, I'm sure no one will replace an engine regardless of whose fault it was. But, realistically how is it the owner's fault when you "the owner" are paying a professional to tune your ride?? I mean I go to the professional because I obviously trust their expertise in the tuning field and trust that they won't blow my truck up I mean hell that's what I'm paying them for!!!! If I just wanted or didn't care if it blew up I'd play with the tune myself.
What I mean by standing behind their tune is, say the tune is off or something results from the tune being off. The tuner should stand behind his/her work and fix the situation. Now, obviously tuners won't hold an accountability for their work but every shop should have insurance for this reason. Even though they may post signs claiming no liability, I am sure as part of business operation they hold insurance that should cover any and all mistakes.
I've got my own LLC, but still carry insurance as part of my practice. Even though I'm a "Limited Liability Company" I am still held liable for my actions.

What software does he use??
If he isn't using SCT software, I would say no thanks.
But like track beast said, the software is onlyy as good as the guy using it. Though I still think the SCT software is about the best.

I agree with Don. SCT is the one I would trust the most.
This is how the local tuner (idiot) told me that he tunes vehicles. Appears that many do this.
He advances timing until he hears pinging and then he backs it off a notch. At this point the rods are screaming bloody mercy. This is called tuning for perfection. So what do you think happens when the weather cools off a bit or the octane in a certain tank of gas isn't up to snuff, or even greater load on the engine in the real world???? Boom! And you have parts all over the road.

I recently got a dyno tune by my local tuner, Atlanta chassis Dyno, and it was 700.00 including the excal 2 tuner...so, yes...that is a fair price.
Holy What The Hell Are You Doing Batman
at the guy blowing up L's and Stangs on the Dyno
Is the same guy you planned on going to calhoun44 ??? (I'd think twice if it is). We've done some pretty insane stuff to my old 02 on the Dyno, like 25lbs of Boost on pump gas, spraying the ever living chit out of it on pump gas, trying all kinds of timing, diff S/C's, diff Pulleys, and even after 55 Dyno's we never lost a Motor
