Just curious, where did you download it?
Also, the way it was explained to me, is you take the Red 01, you cut out all the red parts, basically leaving the lights, wheels windows, grill etc. on a seperate window you color the red parts to the color you want, when you think it's right you paste it back on the original. But that's as in depth of a example as I can give you since I have never used Photoshop.

Black bolt is right on. Use the Extract command to cut out the colored bits. Then on just the colored parts adjust the HUE to Look the way you want. It doesnt give you all the color options but it can come close. If you use other color change methods they wash out the details..

The Image menu has Extract Command and the Adjust / Hue/Saturation command. Use Extract to cut out all the painted parts and then copy them to new layer. then adjust the hue of the new layer.

I'm running Photoshop 6 in Windows 2000, Windows ME and Mac OS 9.1. It works flawlessly. Abobe makes awesome products. If you're having problems you need to check your machine or just do clean install of the OS of your choice.
How much memory are you running? How much free disk space do you have for Photoshops swap space. Adobe reccomends a MINIMUM of 64 megs of ram and 125 megs of drive space. Actually 128 megs of ram is better. I personally run 256 megs or more in all my boxes. Leave about a gig of free Hard drive for Photoshop to swap with.
Hard drive and memory prices are at an all time low. Buy some.
Color replacer in Paint Shop Pro works also.

I think my PC can handle it. <GRIN>
I am running 2000 Server on a Compaq Workstation with twin PIII 733's with 512 mb ram and 20 gigs of free space. The only issue I have with that machine is opening Photoshop with IE at the same time. The OS is reinstalled about every 4 months. The GUI locks HARD, but the services continue to run fine. On Adobes web site there are about 6 Tech notes on the program freezing Windows under different circumstances. If you read through the notes it basically says that Photoshop does not play well with others.
http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/c8e2.htm
This machine is used to its full capacity by a number of applications. The photos I edit in Photoshop are all less than 2 mb so there is no reason for it to be taxing the memory or processor unless the software is written inefficiently.
In my opinion based on my experience, the experience of the 5000+ Windows user my team supports and Adobe's own web site there are issues with the program running in Windows NT and 2000.
I know there are lots of people who love the software. I am one of them when it is working correctly. I will be wiping this drive soon and installing Win2k Pro, since it doesnt host my web site any more, and I am not going to be affected by the 10 connection limit.

Many different factors can cause system errors, including memory conflicts between device drivers, software, hardware, and corrupt elements in specific files. Photoshop may just be the only application that is memory- or processor-intensive enough to cause another, more fundamental problem to manifest itself.
