Anyone have an idea of how long it typically takes after the build date to deliver the car?

I ordered 10/17/00 and got a build date of 1/29/01. Lets hope there are no further setbacks..... SVT is notorious for it!

 

I just got off phone with dealer. Said they have my VIN# and build date for 1/29/01. Said could happen before? But we know how ford is.

To me it seams that the start date may be at end of Jan. Belive I'm 3rd or 4th(posibly more) to have been told of this date.

Thank god i'm not the only one Fritz... All I have is the DORA, and I'm getting jealous that everyone else already has their build date and Vin#. I think I'm going to leave a message for my dealer, and give him links to some of the pages on this web site.

Scheduled build is the week starting Monday, January 29th, 2001. This means that SVT plans to build my L that week, between 1/29 and 2/02.

Once my Lightning is built and put on the railway, I'll be able to track its movement across the USA via Burlington Northern Railway's website:

www.bnsf.com

For those interested in the Puget Sound area: Choose "custom tracing tools", and enter the last 8 positions of your VIN. They will show its location and ETA to the unloading yards.

I'll have a squeaky clean license at least until she arrives.

 

Ordered 10-02 - called factory and my file shows start date between 01-08 and 01-29. Two weeks to deliver to Southern California.

Hope they're not wrong because I'm wound up tighter than a seven year old on Christmas Eve...

Nice collections of autos, I would love that ****** Jeepster I have allways liked them.
I can just imagine what a 19 year old would do for mods on a Blazer hehe.
I am in the same boat as you my dealer tells me mine will go into production in the end of Jan. I sure hope so, guess I will just have to deal with my 1999 4x4 f150 till then.

I put my order in back in October, but the dealership wasn't able to submit it until 11/20/00.

 

Hmm, my dealer tried submitting the 2001.5 order immediately and several times after my initial request (I was there the first time when he was online with Ford's system):

"Ford SVT is finally accepting orders for the 2001.5 SVT Lightnings. We successfully ordered your Black Lightning on 11/20/00 with the tonneau cover as requested. I am mailing you a copy of your DORA (Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement) today. Please review it for accuracy and hang on to it to refer to later (it shows your order #9899 and price, which is MSRP of $32,170)."

Not sure what your dealer was waiting on. I put my order in on the evening of July 17th and my dealer submitted it the next business day. He faxed me a copy of the order approval from Ford right away. Hope they don't keep you waiting like that on everything!

It just keeps getting better! Just got this info:

As of January 9th, your unit is locked in for production. It is scheduled to be built week of JAnuary 8th. With an estimated time of arrival to your dealership week of January 29th!!!!!!!!!!!

A little more than a month and I should be driving my new toy!!!

This is gonna be a long, long month!
