01 Build Date and delivery ?
I'm not sure how much you guys know about how the assembly plant stuff works but I'll give you the run down not to bum anyone out. Just to let you guys know. I've worked at the Michigan Truck Assembly plant for almost 7 years.
It seems that most of you have VIN#'s and build dates. That is a good thing.
The build date is for the week meaning your truck is scheduled to be built the week of Jan 8th or the week of Jan 22nd.
Now you guys do understand they don't stop building regular F150's and just build Lightnings. What they do is run or every 7th or 8th truck as a Lightning. This is called the mix. Which unfortunately can be adjusted to 12 to 1, 20 to 1. Which is usually adjusted for part shortages or quality issues. This is a bad thing if you are waiting.
Since the L's get unique motors, transmissions, interiors, etc... There are several parts that could be late to turn the mix number down (less L's more F's). I've see this happen all the time since we've always built more then one product (Bronco/F, Expedition/F, Expedition/Navigator)
The other issue is all SVT products are built as SHOW jobs. Meaning they get an extra coat of clear applied and get an extra inspection process. Just like the vehicles being built for an auto show will get this treatment and have the name of the show on the metal Vin tag on the rad support. This can be considered a good or bad thing. Better quality, fit and shine but also the inspectors are alot slower and pickier on these vehicles which might mean a longer delay.
Also Ontario Truck Plant is shutting down the week of the 22nd so this could also delay things.
Other things to consider are when the production equipment breaks down. The government wants to delay things. Noise or vibration issues. Also delivery issues, believe it or not they are going to put one truck on a car hauler and drive all the way from Ontario to your dealer.
I'm sorry, I don't want to pee in everyones Cherrios but I do think that if you get your truck in mid March you would be lucky.
I hoped this help you understand how it works a little. So don't get depressed. The trucks are worth the wait.
Another thing is the dealers will fib and lead you on when the truck is late. Just keep in mind it is delayed for a reason and the wait usually means you'll get better quality.
Sorry about the super post,
HIGH RISK

The build "date" you were given is actually the week-of build "date". So it could be slightly longer than you think.

Anybody have the contact info for SVT to find out the VIN# or the build date. I'm starting to find out just how much my dealer sucks. I haven't even gotten a phone call since September when I ordered mine.
High Risk:
If I got a "show quality" paint job on my 'Bolt, I'd hate to see what a typical F-Series looks like!
Worst factory job I've ever seen, and I imagine I'm not alone on this. Painted over dirt, orange peel, painted over dirt, painted over dirt, did I mention painted over dirt? Plus some small bubbles in the clear and a couple funny looking "feathers", almost "sags" also.
On a positive note, this thing hauls azz and stomps anything on the road. Just a crappy paint job, that's all.
I'm as proud of this truck as anything I've ever owned (or will own). Wife isn't allowed to TOUCH it, not to mention DRIVE it. Anyway, my new sister-in-law from Argentina (married to my Daimler-Chrysler R&D brother) visited us a couple months ago (first meeting). Of course, Job One was to show off the freshly-detailed silver beast. I should mention that she's a "non-production buyer" (toilet paper and diesel fuel...) for a tiny Cherokee assembly plant out in the jungle somewhere. Anyhow, she took one sideways glance at it, started laughing, and spent the next half hour pointing out all of the defects in the paint job. Not good.
The guys in the paint shop need to tighten up and lay off the smoky treats during work hours.

I hear the '01's are going to be sooooo fast that it's going to be hard to keep the paint on them.
When going that fast nobody can pick your paint apart. I read that they ran 13.40's with an '01 at the track already.
It's going to be great running 12's with ET Streets on an otherwise stock truck.
