Thumbs up Wasted a WS6 LS1 Trans Am

While at Speedworld tonight I had the pleasure of running a WS6 LS1 powered Trans Am. I bet this guy was shocked when he ran me.
Lightning, Trans Am
reaction .779, .579
60ft 2.147, 2.281
330 ft 5.785, 6.066
660 ft 8.770, 9.106
E.T. 13.548, 13.900
MPH 102.495, 102.442

The other run I had with him, I ran a 13.609 @ 102.248 to his 14.266 @ 100.922.

It was strange as we took off I could tell I was pulling him and then I was expecting him to gain on me as we went down the track, but I kept pulling him.

Nice kill.

I raced a 98 T/A he got me off the line, but I pulled him in alright, and kept pulling well into 3rd, surprized me. Later on I learned that he had an auto and it was shifting between 3900 and 4500 rpms. I would be p!ssed if I owned that car. I wish I were there...

Just by virtue of his poor 60' and bad (no matter how you look at it) trap speed, it looks like what you were beating up on was the goofball trying to drive the car, not the car itself. Not that he should have beaten you, just that it should have been more of a race. I know it must have been fun, though, beating a Ram-air F-body in your truck!!

Cool

coolva,
Yes, I'm positive it was the LS1--it had the four snorkel hood scoop.

69bossnine,
Yes, I agree looking at his launch (mine too), neither one of us got out of the hole good--that track seems very tough to hook up on the launch. Yeah, it definitely was fun beating him in a truck--but that's the whole fun part about this vehicle!

To put things in perspective for all--the 13.9 that he ran is very much par for our temperatures and altitude (remember, we are at 1250 feet). It is common place here in Phoenix to see F-bodied LS1's running low 14's and LS1 speed C5 Vettes running high 13's. My C4 LT1 Corvette runs low 14's with a 13.97 best run--many of the Corvette owners on corvette forum told me either I don't know how to drive or that my car doesn't run right as many LT1 posts are low 13's and flat 13's from the same car.

I see, I see. Judging from your 60' as well, I was thinking that your track might not be the stickiest around. It all makes sense now!!!! Good kill.
