Post 60 ft Times

The Gen1 L's have a 4.10 rear end compared to the 3.55 diff on the Gen2's. Does this allow quicker 60' times on a stock Gen1 compared to a stock Gen2? Please post any times for the Gen1's for comparison to the Gen2's 1.95 - 2.10 sec times. Thanks.

Well, who's done? I ajm 9 or so drinks, but I can answer this question....

My very personal best is a 2.139 60' I do not remmeber what I went, the info is in my truck which is at the dealer (due to intercooler leak) but I think I ran a 13.8something.

My best ET. cam from a 2.145 60' and went a 13.603@101.05. Only mods are taking off my muffler.

Our best 60' time was a 1.75. With was with launching under the nitrous, and roasting the ET Streets on a very cold day. We avg. about a 1.8x

There's a whole lot more to 60-foot times than gear ratio. For instance, torque/horsepower, traction, and so on. There is NO WAY that a Gen 1, on average, will pull a Gen 2 through the 60-foot traps.

If it was about gear ratio, then my slug of a Pontiac would be pulling scorching times deep into the 1's. As it is, I'd be happy to clear the traps in anything under 3 seconds with that thing. It G-Techs at 9.3 seconds 0-60.

I would guess that a typical stock Gen 1 would turn 60-foot times in the 2.3's to 2.4's. Just a guess.

No way will a Gen 1 pull something around 1.8 seconds (faster than a Gen 2). Assuming constant acceleration through the entire 60 feet, that would be 1.15 g for 60 feet, which would give you a 0-45 mph in 1.8 seconds (or 0-60 in 2.4 seconds if you could maintain the acceleration). Simple, not-too-realistic assumptions, but you get the point.

Working with the same assumptions, a 2.4 second 60-foot time works out to 0.65 g average acceleration, and 34 mph at the 60-foot mark. Sounds about right. With drag making itself felt and other factors, this could work out to a 0-60 mph run at around 7 seconds, which should be in the ballpark for a stock Gen 1.

See, all of those 7 years of engineering WERE good for something, Mom.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I can take care of at least one of the two Gen1 L's I know. The second does 1.7x's. Looks like I have some work to do.
