Post Oil in supercharger? HELP!!

My buddy said this is normal but when I was putting on my bassani this weekend, I noticed my supercharger had a oil all over the inside of my plenum and it looked like it was comming from the black plastic tube inbetween the mass air and the throttle body by the hole on the bottom. I don't know what this is and why but is this normal. Should I have it looked at by ford right away.

What a coincidence I just installed the single blade throttle body this weekend and found a film of oil along the intake and even on the throttle body. I was just about to post my concerns but I guess they've been answered!!

Well, I agree it's normal from an engineering standpoint. My throttle body has a small puddle of oil on the bottom of the bores. Must be oil vapor from the PCV system being re-introduced into engine to be burned.

Said it before and I'll say it again. After seeing pics of PBGas' intake, I think it's way too cruddy and oily and would not be a bit surprised if that contaminated, acid and moisture-containing oil covering the I/C is the reason for our solder joint failures and subsequent leaking. It'd be better to introduce the vapors below the I/C IMHO. Mark my words.

I never thought of that. I wonder if that would havr something to do with it. Does any other factory vehicle with a roots type blower have a intercooler, and does is have the leaking intercooler problem? Good point. Maybe if the oil sits there long enough it would do some damage.

RT,

Haven't heard of other S/C vehicles leaking. My opinion is that we have soft I/C's and/or I/C joints affected by used oil residue. Possibly other car's PCV vapor is introduced below the I/C directly into the intake to be burned.

I just know that PB's intake looked like crap for a new truck. Think about it - oil does contain combustion acids, that's one of the reasons we change it every 3k or so miles. Solder joints are made of soft metal. What happens when soft metal is bathed in acid? Especially at 10+ psi? Think of an old radiator with crappy, overused coolant. A leak waiting to happen while hot under pressure.

It's normal. Under engine vacum some oil gets
sucked in through that little plastic pipe. It won't damage anything and it's partly an emissions thing like the PVC.
