"What does SVT stand for"????
Can you believe that was said to me today by a salesman at a Ford Dealership near my house today???? I almost fell over laughing.
1st I pulled up right beside the showroom to talk to the service department about the new TSB on the "star" washer for my front arms and to get the front end aligned. I noticed some slight feathering of the outside edges when rotating my tires last week.
Anyway, while I'm in the service department, 3 salesmen come out and are admiring my L. When I walk back out the guy says, "I like this one better than the HD Edition (they had in showroom). I said thanks. He then said does it run good? I said "It hauls A$$!!" He then said what does SVT stand for. I immediately lost all respect for him!
Then his buddy said "Special Vehicle Team", and I got a little respect for him, but lost it when he then said, "It's got one of those hopped-up Mustang motors in it"!!!! Can you belive that????
I said, "No it's not a mustang motor, it is a Triton 5.4 with a 10 pound Eaton Supercharger (I know 8 from factory, but mine is now at 10!!). This seemed to confuse them so I said well I gotta go.
Guess what? I called the dealership where I bought my L and will have them perform my work next Friday.
Don't think I'm gonna let these Ford "Experts" keep my baby!!!
Too bad too, this dealership is 1 mile from my house and the other is about 20 miles away. At least they know what SVT means!!
Happy Holidays!

Isn't that amazing! I go through the same thing and until today, I worked at a Ford dealership! OF course, not an SVT dealer
Our L2 is stuck in the service dept over the Christmas Holiday waiting on the control arm washer things to fix it. The service manager said it wasn't road worthy like it is and wanted to keep it. I convinced him otherwise, but then decided to leave her there to keep from complicating life next week. We have a rental and things are OK, but I sure do miss her! At least now she'll be fixed and it looks like Ford Warranty is going to buy her a new right front tire since the cords are almost showing on the inside

Well, I don't know whether the knowledge, or lack thereof, of the salespeople has any relevance to the competence of the service department or not. I bought my L. at an SVT dealership, and the salesment there are pretty knowledgeable about the product, but when I took it in for the leaky intercooler the service writer at first tried to tell me that they would have to check the radiator for leaks because it was connected to the intercooler. He thought the intercooler reservoir was an overflow tank. But, to give credit where credit is due, once I explained the system he was very diligent in ordering the parts to fix it.
Well what I didn't mention was while in the service department, I was explaining about the TSB to Cletus and Cooter, and when I mentioned "clunk fix", Cooter says, you may have to leave the vehicle for a few days until we find it the clunk because the TSB may not fix it. I DON'T THINK SO!!!
What a bunch of morons! Can you imagine if I told them my intercooler was leaking or low, what they might say or how long they'd try to keep it???
Oh well, chalk it up to experience!!

And that reminds me of a very strange thing the service manager said to me tonight when I was exchanging rentals. Off the cuff, he said, at least it's not a leaking intercooler. Yes, this IS the same guy that is scared to death to let the truck back on the roads with the control arm bolt movement. I said, "luckily ours doesn't have the intercooler problem yet" He said, "it's because you take such good care of the truck and don't run it hard" LMFAO!
Take it for what it's worth, this same dealership has replaced an L2 engine already under warranty and he's afraid of the control arm, but knows about the intercooler. I'm lost!
Whatever the case, they've replaced the fog lamps, exhaust, seatbelt and ABS sensors under warranty. I really have no complaints at all.
