Post New Tires

I am in serious need of new tires, and was wondering what most of you guys are going with as far as replacements go. I saw a post some time back about a 305/55/18 that was about $100.00 cheaper than the 295/45/18.

Is this true and what are the specs on these tires? Would you recommend them? Anyone have pics with these tires?

Also, would it be more practical to switch to a 17" wheel and tire combo instead of replacing these tires at a higher cost more frequently? Does anyone have pics of their truck with 17" wheels and tires?

Talking

PIRELLI SCORPION ZERO 285/65R16
Wide tread pattern, low profile and characteristic Yellow Scorpion on the sidewall. High-impact elements that denote an aggressive yet sophisticated personality.
Comfort at high speeds and quick steering response, it makes driving dynamic and safe whether in the city, in the hills or on the highway. Scorpion Zero also provides noticeably high performance on wet roads. Ideal for the ultimate 4x4 changeovers, including those with wider alloy wheels, Scorpion Zero is available in "H" & "V" speed ratings, 45, 55, 60, & 65 Series aspect ratios and rim sizes from 15" to 20".

UTQG Rating
Series (Sizes) Treadwear Traction Temperature
P255/65R15 420
285/65R16 420
All Other Sizes 300

Ultra 16X10 wheels at $100 each and the tires at $105 each, all from Discount tire got me into these for about $900 drive out, less than a new set of goodyears and with a hardness of 420 they will go over 50,000 miles. Some slight rub against front ground effects when turning into driveway. I can live with it. Drive great. speedo is off about 4 mph at 70. So what, I never drive at 70 anyway.

Do you have a pic with that setup?

If so, then please post it here or you can send it to me at m_j_foster@msn.com or mike.foster2@weatherford.com.
