Thumbs up stainless cat back!

Hi everyone,
I just got off the phone with MBRP Performance Exhausts [url=http://www.mbrp.com] . They manufacture high quality 304 stainless exhaust systems for rods and other specific applications. Last week I recieved some stainless tips from them for a rod I'm building. Absolutley awesome! I've seen some of their products at rod shows. The quality is second to none. ( I am fussy!).
When I approached them to see if they would be interested in doing tips for lightnings, they not only said yes, but they want to use my truck to finalize a complete stainless cat back system. They've been receiving alot of requests for lightnings. They have sent a prototype lightning system to someone in Illinois for track testing. Results: 2/10's and a couple mph. This is a go guys. It will happen as soon as my truck is out of winter storage. (probably April). It looks like you will have a choice of just tips or a complete system. I need your response here to get a feel for what demand might be.

I have the MBRP 3 inch system in my garage.I raced with this system all summer long.I can tell you this muffler has a very good sound to it.The one thing i highly recommend is go with there 2 1/2 inch instead of 3 inch cause you will lose bottom end power on a 3 inch.I put my stock system back on and immediately ran 1 tenth faster! One of my friends is a distributor for MBRP.

Snakepit thanks for the info.
I just checked out there web page, looks interesting. When I get my 2001 L I will be looking to do a few upgrades. After the peice of ***** system I got from Bassani for my current truck, I know that they are out of the picture. It is to bad the Bassani system for my 93 L was awsome, but there quality had taken a nose dive.
HIGH ROLLER thats good advice, bigger isn't allways better.

I agree with High Roller in sticking with a 21/2" system. Torque would be lost with a 3". From what I've heard it's hard to improve upon horsepower numbers that stock makes. These guys do seem to know what they are talking about though. The Focus system is supposed to work really well and the system for the RT looks great too. If anyone wants you can talk to Martin at MBRP at 1-888-636-7227

HIGH ROLLER
Are you looking for someone to take it off your hands or are you planning to re-install it?

Thumbs up

I have a 99 and have held off from changing the exhaust system due to no clear advantage from most of the posts I have read. However, the constant cleaning of the tips and the no sound exhaust would be an area that I would be open to buy if a good product was available that did not cost an arm and leg. I would be interested in a "cat back" system, as I haven't seen any advantage to do the complete system back if you want to retain the "cats".
