Smile L. not too bad on ice

Well, I'm one of those folks who uses the L. for a daily driver, and the D/FW metroplex had our first, and hopefully only, ice storm of the year last night. After driving 65 miles on the ice I'd have to say the L. isn't bad at all. It's certainly better than my '92 Silverado was. Put a few extra PSI in the F1's, left the chip in, and took it easy. Having almost 2K lbs. on the rear axle really helps compared to other trucks. No sweat.

Moonshine

I left work at 4:30 last night and hit one small uphill patch of ice and My Lightning was fishtailing like crazy at idle. Scared the hell out of me..... I know how to drive in ICE and snow from living in it for 20 years. May be my trouble was my rear tires are bald ?? Who knows....

I'm not going anywhere till it melts....

I too use it for a daily driver - didnt really have much problem. Just start in "2" and then shift to D once you are going. Make small corrections in throttle and steering, and give yourself plenty of time to get where you are going. I was actually more afraid of being hit by some moron than having an accident myself.

Doug, isn't that the same technique you use at the strip? JK.

Cool

Doug,

Bald tires are a bad thing. We need to do a burn-out video so you can get some tread on the rears.

Moonshine

So I guess your truck is fixed now?

You know last year I drove my L in the winter and after driving my brothers Awd audi tt roadster, My L was pretty damn good. I had 500 pounds in the back, but it was just as good as that piece of crap audi. Mine's sitting in the garage this year for more then one reason if you know what I mean. hehehe.
