Post Now, that's what I'm talkin' about

Let the best part of the year begin; there's nothing like blasting through a trail to see so much beautiful country. Here's a trail head entry point in Pelston, Michigan. Snow's here early this year. WooooooHoooooo! That's my bud, Greg on his 2000 ZR600 Blair Morgan next to my 2000 ZR440 Sno Pro. He was shocked at how fast my racer 440 was. I beat him 2 outta' 3 times in drag racing. We rode about 200 miles this outting. We helped a 800cc triple Ski-doo guy whos chain broke and punched a hole in his chaincase leaking out all his oil pull his sled out of a 100 foot ravine; man, that was HARD!! Snow was about 10 inches deep there. Talk about cardio-vascular workout.

Back in the 70's we used to get on Grandpa's Ski-Doos and go down Josyln about 2:00...then take off down the middle of the interstate!!!..in a dad gum blizzard...I dunno...those were the days...the first time...Jim (cousin) took off and scared the **** outta me...all I had to follow was a little red dot called a tail light in that blizzard...then we come back up Josyln..take off up Brown Road...wide open....I almost ***** by britches..... Bolt..those pics are kewl..they are like in Cinema Vision and ****

Hey Badbolt,

Did you use to own an earlier one? The reason I ask is I've got a 99 ZR 440 sno pro and a friend of mine is getting a 2001, and I'm just wondering how much stronger the new ones run with the electronically controlled APV. I just ordered a Blair Morgan clutch kit from Black Magic. Now if we would just get some damn snow in this state I would be set. Hey, what is the ski stance on yours? Did they bump it to 43" like the rest of the cat lineup?

Peter B

I had a 99 Z440 fan Sno Pro. My 2000 ZR liquid has the APV setup; it's new for 2000. No maintainance and bigtime good on performance. I just couldn't believe the power these little 440 liquid motors put out; they are serious bad sleds. Imagine me (255 lbs.) and my bud, Greg (135 lbs.) racing, me on my 440 and him on his non-APV ZR600, beating him in two of three races. If he were to ride my Sno Pro, I'd put money on him to spank some 700's up to 65 mph. As far as I know, the Sno Pro's, since 2000, have a 43" stance up from about 42" on 99 and back. Only the powder sleds have the way narrow 30 something setup for mountain riding and side-hilling. I'm sure your bud knows about the 2001 Sno Pro rear skid/shock problems; if not, he will have a recall notice really soon. A lot of the racers have been trashing their rear suspensions because of some sort of problem with the fluidic link between the front arm shock and rear shock on the skid. All this popped up as soon as the race season got underway. Even Blair Morgan lost a race to Tucker Hibbert because of this problem. Good luch with your clutch kit.

BadBolt,

Thanks for all the info. I know what you mean about the power valve setup and the potent power of this little mills. Mine has the power valves, but not the electronically activated, I still put out 98hp which is what the new ones are rated at, but I don't have the bottome end or mid that the electronic valves are claimed to produce. I too have surprised all my riding buddies. One of them has a 700 RMK, in a drag we are dead even till 70, then he starts to walk me. Watch out for the 800 twin Polaris--that is an animal. It goes from 0-60 like instantly! A friend of mine has one and it is truly incredible. Thanks again.
