Just Got My New L - Couple Of Questions
I just received my new L today. It came by transport from a dealership in PA. I did not receive my owners manual and I have only one key. The key I have does not have a button on it to open the auto doorlocks. I am unsure what keys I should have received. Should the main key have the alarm button on it. Also, will the alarm automatically set when I lock the doors? I have already called the dealership and it would be helpful if I had some additional info before calling again.
When I got mine, I received two sets of keys. Both with the push-button keyless entry gadget.
Owners manual included in the glove compartment.
Didn't your salesman give you the once-around with your truck? He is suppose to show you the features of the truck and explain the air-conditioning, radio, etc.

Thanks Gotechs! Unfortunately I do not live in PA. The truck was delivered by transport. The salesman was off on Wednesday when it was collected. The only item in the glovebox was the harness kit. No manual, and what appears to be an ordinary ford key. I thought the key was supposed to be different due to the built in chip. That's the only drawback to buying a vehicle that you have not seen. It is a new 2000. It only had 167 miles on it.
your truck came to you with 160 miles on it? that seems like alot dont it ? mine only had 40 and i thought that was too many . someone was out joy riding i think

1. You should have got two keys,If your truck runs,Believe me its the right key.No funky elictronic devises visual other than the remote entry door lock thingy.
2.Lightnings dont have an alarm
3.167 miles although is unusual,If you just bought it and its new,im sure the dealer (manager) drove it on occasion,or a couple of test drives. No need to be alarmed,They have the right .
owners manuals are not anything special,Youu can get one from parts. Its not really lightning specific other than a little booklet with it.

I knew the truck had 160 miles on it.
It was by far the best price and one of only 2 silver ones I could find.
The dealer is sending two of the remote keys.
The dealer I purchased from had 2 black ones , 1 silver one and 1 red one. Someone else on the board bought one.
If anybody is interested they still have a black one in stock as of today.
Thanks for the feed back.

Costs about 70.00 to make another key. If you have two keys another is no big deal, however, if you only have one it is a different process.
When I got mine I just went driving, had no idea where I put second key until I needed it.

You need two keys so you don't get locked out. One for the left pocket and one for the right. When my wife asked for her key I just smiled.

Correct. If you have only one key, it will cost approx. $70-$90 to make the second. It takes a electronic device to do it.
If you have two keys, the cost is about $15.00 and the service writes can program the third key with no problem or you can do it.

You could put the keyless entry handle on and never have to worry about being locked out.
