20 miles to work one way each day. Spend a small fortune on gas but all work and no play makes pooh a sad boy

Daily driver, except for the past two days. I rebuilt the carb on my Boss and been thundering around in it yesterday and today. Kind of funny....gas mileage...my 429 gets about 10 mpg running on $3.60/gallon 110 octane red! The Lightning in comparison sips fuel, the cheap (sarc) 93 octane stuff!

I used to drive mine everwhere until I got my work truck, but now she just sit's and waits to go out at nite and the weekends. 26000 miles on her now. I do agree that you should drive what you love but, not to a demolition job site, I just get to worried some idiot's going to hurt her. A guy by my me only drives his on sunday's and he has about 3,000 miles on his 99. I couldn't do that, the urge is to much. I can't wait to get home just to drive my truck (not now with the white ***** all over the streets).

Mine is a daily driver. It has almost 12,000 miles on it since I picked it up in March 2000. It is just too easy to drive fast or otherwise. I think I figured out what one of the contributing factors to my low mileage is .... 80 mph hiway speed. And yes, the only thing my L can't pass is a gas station.

Picked up End of Feb 2000. Daily driver 12 mile commute. 13500 miles now. I wonder how many miles the front suspension has on it ?? 12000 ??

I probobly put more miles on going to the track than to work. Dont have enough space to have multiple vehicles. Some day I may get the Go_Rila garage upgrade.... One at each end of the house..

Hey Retic

Sorry to get off subject..but, I used to keep/breed snakes for years. A couple of years ago I sold my whole collection to a wholesaler -It was too hard to get chicks to come over with a housefull of reptiles -and the ones that liked them -were too creepy for me! I never had the room too keep snakes as large as Retic's -plus I've seen what they can do....ever been bit? I got nailed by a 5' Caiman -and that was humbling enough for me realize I was not as in control as I thought. Great hobby but I stick to Tarantula's....and muscle cars these days.

Thumbs up

Mine started out as a dailey driver for the first 5000 miles in 5 months. Then I started going to the drag strip (just to see what she would do.) Yeah. Right!!!.
(Question-Why do we call our Lightnings SHEs?-Sorry that's a thread already done.).
First, just once a week, (then more mods).
Then twice a week (then more mods) and wining a trophy.
Them 3 times a week (Test and tune.)
Has anyone fell into the same wonderful trap that I have???
Now I have 13,000-figured @ 80 miles round trip per night. X 3 nights a week-Shoot!!
(Now I know where all the miles came from!!!)
A 1/4 at a time!!!

Picked it up at the dealer with 5 miles on the odometer in June. It's rolling around 12,000 now. Those trips between Georgia and Texas add up after a while.

I bought mine in May and thought I was really racking up the miles at 7,400. I have a daily driver - just too hard to put the L away.

I have a 2001 L on order (placed 11/20) and it will be my daily driver. Except on sunny days, because that's what the 2000 GT Convertible is for. I live in Seattle and there are very few sunny days here. :-)

Cheers!
